15 Booked the Beast (Finally)..!!

I finally book the Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi..

Yesterday (18'th Aug, 2007) I got a call form Bajaj Probiking Showroom. I was told over the phone that I could come down to their showroom and book the Pulsar 220. Yes, I had to be invited to book the Pulsar 220.

Taking the Pulsar 220 for a Test Ride

>> So far around 60 Pulsar 220's has been sold in Bangalore

>> One of the first Pulsar 220's sold in Bangalore was even backed by a "political" recommendation (revealed by the showroom guys)

>> The waiting period has come down to around 60 days (max) from the earlier 5 months as stated by them previously

In fact as of today, anyone who wants to book a Pulsar 220 in Bangalore has to enter his/her name in a list maintained at the Probiking Showroom situated at Kasturba Road and then wait for his/her turn. The list contains the contact details of those who had inquired about the Pulsar 220 even before it was available in Bangalore. My serial number in that list was 215 and I had to wait for 1 month before I could book the Pulsar 220 for myself.

So I went to the showroom in the evening and paid the booking amount of Rs.5000 for a Red Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi. The showroom guys assured me that I should get the bike within the next 30 days to 60 (maximum) days.

Looks like it’s going to be a long and patient wait.

Checking out a Red Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi

That's me checking out a Red one..

Congratulations and excellent choice of colour!

The wait seems short. Shorter than the 3 months I waited for my P180 DTSi (V-1) way back in 2003!

hey man congrats and cheers!
last friday even i went to probiking showroom located in jalandhar (punjab), when i entered the showroom i was instantly relieved coz i saw the black beast inches away from me. when i reached at the front help desk staff i got an instantaneous response and a young guy came to me and asked me that how can he help me, and i pointed my finger at the beast, then he very anthusiastically told me everything he knew abt the bike (but i had more info abt the bike but i kept my mouth shut), then i asked him abt the test ride and he told me that i can take the ride on mon, wed and friday only (and it was sat damn).
then i said what if i want to buy it now, to which he said that i'm free to do so anytime as there is no waiting time.
so i'm gonna get the test ride soon and 1 more thing it is priced at 81k ex showroom and around 87k with all the documents.

Thanks again everyone.. I know you wish me well.

Aman, congrats on being able to get the bike so soon.. The On road price in Bangalore is around 91K.. damm..!! Everything in Bangalore is costly.. even unleaded petrol costs Rs. 50 for a litre here.

Maltesh, you should see the P220 in flesh and take it for a test ride if possible.. it is no doubt the most exciting bike in India right now (never mind even if it has a few rough edges)

Vespa,

I learnt riding two wheelers on my father's Bajaj "Chetak" scooter which had a two stroke engine. Bajaj no longer produces its earlier two stroke scooters. Bajaj has now transformed into a mainly motorcycle manufacturer. It does produce a small 4 stroke scooter targetted at girls/women. You can check it out at www.bajajauto.com

Great work! But i suppose you have booked the Black one. It looks total beast and heavy! Looks manly too! In the TV ad too it looked like a speed monster!!!

Hi Anirban,

The Black Color indeed does look great.. but only when its well maintained and keeps its shine.

The reason why I did not go for the black is because Black Color needs a lot of attention and care.

Hairline sctatches become visisble in Black Color very easily. The P220 also comes in Solid Black Color and not in a Metallic shade. Metallic shades keeps its shine for a longer period.

Among the other colors I liked Red over the Blue and Metallic Gray/Silver
