Clarification of some of the rumours going around about the yet to be launched Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSFi (Clarified by Shashank Zope, a Pulsar 220 DTSFi owner from Pune)
Since the Pulsar 220 was showcased at the Jan 2006 Auto Expo in New Delhi, there has been a lot of speculations.. I have come across many a discussions in internet bike forums where people have claimed all sorts of things about the Pulsar 220.
Even after 20 odd Pulsar 220 DTSFi's have been launched in Pune (probably for test marketing before the nationwide release) the rumours have not stopped.
The rumours which I have come across lately are
- The 20 odd Pulsar 220's which have been sold in Pune are being recalled by Bajaj due to Fuel Injector problems (One reputed Auto Magazine has Reported this in March 2007 Issue)
- A New Pulsar 220 DTSFi will be launched Natiowide which will have a New Name, Modified Front Fairing, Side and Back profile! (Overdrive.in Forum)
- The 20 odd owners of the P220 in Pune can either keep the bike with them or they can return to bajaj for replacing with the new 220!! (Overdrive.in Forum)
So I decided to ask Shashank Zope (one of the 20 odd Pulsar 220 owner from Pune) whether these rumours were true.
This is what Shashank Zope answered:
- No.. Bajaj hasn't recalled his bike or for that matter anyone else he knows and who owns a Pulsar 220. (But yes, he is experiencing some cold starting problems.. but the problem is not that serious in nature)
- He hasn't heard about Bajaj releasing a New Pulsar 220 DTSFi
- There has been no pact with Bajaj regarding the return of the Pulsar 220's which have been sold to them.
So I suppose that these are just what they are i.e. BASELESS RUMOURS.. probably started by someone who has got bored of the long wait for the Pulsar 220.
