7 II'nd Batch of Pulsar 220 Available for Booking in Pune.. Now..!!

Second batch of 25 Pulsar 220 DTSFi's available for booking in Pune

Bajaj had already announced that it was going to launch the fuel injected Pulsar 220 in May 2007. A few months back Bajaj had sold a batch of around 20 odd Pulsar 220's in Pune as a part of their test marketing strategy before the full fledged India Launch.

Now a second batch of 25 Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSFi are avaialbe for booking (Only) in Pune. The news was picked up from the online bike community XBhp.Com

>> No Styling Changes

>> No Changes in the Engine

>> Increase in price (Present batch is for sale at 87K, The first batch had a price of 83k (on road Pune)

This time the price has been increased to Rs.87,125 (on road) in Pune. It seems there are no changes in the current batch of the Pulsar 220 from the earlier batch, except for the Price (on road Pune).

The first batch of the Pulsar 220's were sold for Rs.83,559 (on road) in Pune.
This time the price has been increased to Rs.87,125 (on road) in Pune.

Its music to ears of bikers from Pune waiting for the Pulsar 220. But I would have liked to see some styling changes, especially to the headlamp if not the tank. The present headlamp cluster according to me dosen't gel very well with the rest of the bike and it looks like an afterthought (more so since Bajaj has increased the price this time)

Since the direct competitor of the Pulsar 220, the New Karizma-R has only been upgraded in looks (no changes to the engine/performance/features).. it seems Bajaj has become more bold in pricing and has gone ahead with a higher price. This is what happens when you don't have a competition.

I think its alright to price the 220 at 88, I mean anyone going for the 220 at the previous rate of 84 can surely afford 88. And if the Karizma is at 80, P220 is cheaper still at 88 with 3 additional BHP, rear disc brake, all those gizmos and not to mention Fi.
But yes, some changes in the styling were called for... many months ago (Nov 2 2006)you had put a blog on how some site has the 220 modified, if you remember. The third pic from top was that of a naked road bike, with golden coloured forks and a monoshock. It was excellent.

Yes Utpal, a few changes especially to the fairing is desired..

I think the Karizma is a little more than 80K..

The problem with the Price increase of the P220 is that now the Difference between the P220 and the P200 has widened quite a bit.. the P200 has a price of about 70K on road in Pune..

So there is now a huge price differential of about 17-18K between the P200 and the P220..!!

Yes, didn't realise the huge gap between the 220 & 200.
Probably because 200 has the threads of the 150 & 180 where as 220 with its half fairing will look different from the smaller 3. So maybe, Bajaj wants to keep it in a Premium Range...

One thing I know is that the Bajaj marketers are more brainy than the Japs who have nice engines but alas, no sales where as Bajaj has issues but look at the sales. Wow!
