April 2010 sales numbers of our Indian 2 wheeler manufacturers..
April 2010 sales has been the highest ever monthly numbers for Bajaj Auto. With the exception of Hero Honda, the other manufacturer’s sales have shown a positive growth in April 2010 compared to the same period last year.
Hero Honda’s April 2010 numbers has been flat compared to the same month last year. Hero Honda has attributed this to the issues with its availability of batteries for its motorcycles. (due to worker unrest at Exide factory). Its technology partner Honda (HMSI) though had a 41% growth in April 2010 sales numbers.
Posted below are the April 2010, two wheeler sales numbers.
Note: The monthly sales figures include domestic sales as well as exports. Also it includes sales of all types of 2 wheelers (Motorcycles, Scooters, Mopeds etc.)
Hero Honda sold 371,652 units of two-wheelers in April 2010 (sales remaining flat compared to the same period last year)

In a statement, Hero Honda said that it had sold 3,70,575 units in April last year….
… However, the company faced an "acute shortage" of batteries for over two weeks due to a go-slow agitation at Exide's Bawal facility, he added.
"As a result of this, our dispatches have been adversely impacted and currently over 50,000 fully finished motorcycles are stranded at our plants for want of batteries.
Bajaj Auto sold 276,095 units of two-wheelers in April 2010 (Up by 84% over last year)
News Source: Click hereThe country's second largest two- wheeler maker Bajaj Auto on Sunday reported an 84 percent jump in its motorcycle sales at 2,76,095 units in April - the highest ever monthly numbers, against 1,49,733 units in the same month last year.
Bajaj Auto said in a statement that this April its total two-wheeler sales jumped by 84 percent to 2,76,122 units, compared to 1,50,252 units in the same period a year ago.
TVS Motor has sold 144,689 units of two-wheelers in April 2010 (Up by 28% over last year)
News Source: Click hereVS Motor Co, India's third largest two wheeler maker, said on Saturday that total two wheeler sales in April rose 28 percent to 144,689 units from 113,119 units.
Its domestic sales rose about 22 percent in April to 125,471 units from 102,985 units in the same period a year ago, TVS Motor said in a statement. Its exports surged nearly 90 percent to 19,218 units against 10,134 units, it added.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has sold 1,36,862 units of two-wheelers in April 2010 (Up 41% over last year)
News Source: Click hereTwo-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India today reported a 41.41 per cent growth in sales to 1,36,862 units in April, 2010.
In comparison, the company's total sales stood at 96,782 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, HMSI said in a statement.
Motorcycle sales jumped 51.02 per cent to 64,175 units in April this year, against 42,495 units in April, 2009, it added.
The company reported an increase of 33.89 per cent in scooter sales to 72,687 units in April, 2010, compared to 54,287 units a year ago during the same month.
Yamaha India sold 24,960 units of two-wheelers in April 2010 (Up by 42% over last year)

The company had sold 17,576 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement. The domestic sales rose by 11.51 per cent to 16,861 units in April 2010 from 15,120 units in the same month last year, it added.
During last month, the company exported 8,099 units as against 2,456 units in the year-ago period, a jump of over two-fold.
Suzuki Motorcycle India has sold 20,771 units of two-wheelers in April 2010 (Up by 53% over last year)

just 17,576 monthly sales for Yamaha in India. what a joke!!
Good stats. I find it pretty ridiculous that Yamaha and Suzuki have such a puny share of the market. These Japanese Giants are sleeping to my mind. Sleeping after the fact that they are losing ground across the world and they've been making losses for many a quarter now.
Yamaha has been doing things but I don't think it's enough to enthuse Indian bikers. Guess we expect much more from this brand and it isn't delivering in spite of the two good bikes it has launched in the last 2 years.
And a small but appropriate change to your blog layout. :)
