The Official Technical Specification are yet not confirmed, nor is the Final Price.. Yet you can book the YZF-R15 in Bangalore..

Yes, Yamaha Dealers from Bangalore are accepting bookings for the Yamaha YZF-R15. I just happened to call two of the dealers in Bangalore, "Orion Motors" and Bangalore Wheels" and both of them confirmed that they are taking bookings due to "Customer Pressure"..!!

Technical Specifications/ BHP Figures of the R15: The receptionist at the "Orion Motors" Showroom told me over the phone that the R15 will have 22 bhp..!! At the same time the guy from "Bangalore Wheels" told me that the Tech Specs are yet not confirmed..!!

I even called up Yamaha dealer from Chennai, "Ambal Yamaha": They told me that they will take bookings from April 15'th 2008. But even they said that they do no know anything about the bhp figures..!!

I also called up the exclusive Yamaha Owned "Yamaha Bike Station" in Delhi: These guys there have said that thery aren't taking bookings and do not have a clue that anyone else is taking bookings in India.

Delivery Dates of the Yamaha YZF-R15: But all the dealers confirmed that the delivery of the (150 cc, Liquid cooled, Fuel Injected) Yamaha R15 will be around June 2008..!!

Expected Price for the Yamaha YZF-R15: And yes, even though the final price is yet to be announced, they have given a ballpark figure of Rs.88,000-1,00,000.

That's a great news, though Yamaha should release tech specs.

How can someone sell or buy anything without knowing anything about it except for the engine capacity.I guess there should be a first time for everything,right Payeng?

Yes, I know its surprising.. but when I asked the same thing to the Dealers they said that that's why they aren't forcing to book. In fact they said that they were accepting booking only due to pressure from customers..

Anyway, the official launch of the R15 looks to be right on schedule for June 2008.

I called up Yamaha guys at Hyderabad.. they dont seem to have a single clue about booking and specs...

22bhp? on a 150cc? that'll require some very high compression ratios. plus i reckon the engine will belt out that kinda power only at extreme rpms, meaning the engine will require more maintenance.

a respectable 17-18 bhp for a high-revving 150cc motor is decent enough i guess.

@Lohit,

it seems only Bangalore dealers are taking bookings.

@Nilu,

Yes, even I think 17-18 bhp it will be..

With around 130 Kg weight (approximate) of the R15, 17-18 bhp should be adequate to post one of the fastest top speeds among Indian Bikes.

Lets wait and see what the R15 has to offer for us.

I think R15 will be very very very disappointing for many people, the bike in itself is great, but the hype... the overly high expectation...

What do you think abt Castrol Bike Zone? Is this concept doing well? Any clue? Was contemplating taking a franchise...

castrol bike zone is quite an innovative idea..but i think people will visit the bike zone only after their paid services are over, cause the warranty of the bikes require the bike to be serviced at respective authorised service stations.

moreover,from what i have seen, people who prefer custom services use hi-peformance engine oils like motul and mobil 1. but for a number of people who use performance synthetic oils, there is an equal number of people who use castrol too, so that way castrol bike zone may be a good idea.
but nevertheless, do take views of owners of franchise outlets, if u find someone in your near vicinity.

Hey Guys,

In today's Hindustan Times Cafe supplement a review on Yamaha YZF R15 is given on page 16-17. The quote reads " The R15 will break the mould, deploying fluid to help the approximately 18 bhp, 150 cc, 4- stroke single sylinder engine keep its cool."

I calculated the power/weight ratio for the following
Karizma- 17 PS (16.7688 bhp)/ 150 kg = 0.1118 bhp per kg

Pulsar 220- 20 PS(19.728 bhp)/ 150 kg = 0.1315 bhp per kg

R15 - 18 bhp / 135 kg ( approx.)= 0.1333 bhp per kg

As you can see even at this figure R15 will have the best power to weight ratio ----- vj

Hi, I have got to know that after R15 & FZ 150,the company's next project is going to be an automatic transmission 125 cc scooter again on the performance platform. Boy, the company is really going to go with all guns blazing !!!!
