TVS launches Electric Start Entry-level (100 c.c) bike
This is rather late news. In January 2007, TVS Motor launched India's first 100 C.C bike with Electric Starter, the TVS Star City.
The competition for TVS in the 100 C.C segment, namely the Bajaj Platina and the Yamaha G5 offers alloy only wheels as options. While none of the Hero Honda 100 C.C models offer even alloy wheels as standard. The Star City already had alloy wheels as options. Now the TVS Start City becomes the "only" 100 C.C bike in India to provide an electric start as option.
Bajaj has already stated that they plan to quit the 100 C.C segment within a few years. It seems that TVS is trying to cement its place in this ultra competitive 100 C.C segment.
This is what various auto magazines have to say about the TVS Star City...
- Looks: According to me the TVS Star City is the Best looking among the 100 C.C models available in the market.
- Engine: Auto magazines state that the engine of the Star City is one of the smoothest in its category.
- Fuel Efficiency: Like other 100 C.C models a mileage figure of about 65 km/l can be expected of the Star City.
- Handling and Ride: Auto magazines state that the Star City strikes a fine balance between stable handling and a comfortable ride.
- Price: The Electric Version of the Star City is priced around Rs.36,750 (ex-showroom price in Delhi).
Lower variants of the TVS Star City without the Electric Start and alloys are also available.
