13 I have become a father..!!

Being a dad means more responsibility and less time.. so what does it mean for the biker and blogger for a "biker next door"?

If there is a long pause in between blog posts..

..it means that I am just being a dad or I am out there riding somewhere

We have been blessed with a baby boy on 23’rd Nov 2011. By the grace of God both the child and mother is in good health and doing fine. Everything in my life has been a gradual change so far, but the birth of my son marks a radical change in my life/lifestyle.

The joy of being a dad is yet to sink in but already the drastic changes in my life is very evident. For example, sleeping is an activity which now is accomplished in “Power Naps”. Patience now comes without any effort. And it’s amazing how such a tiny individual demands so much laundry service. Everything in my life now revolves around our bundle of joy. Also for the first time in my life I am really glad that I have a 4 wheeler..!!

So does it mean that my biking days are over? Also what repercussion could it have on my online bike diary, “Bike Chronicles of India”?

Changes for the "Biker" in me

HMSI (Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India) refreshes its Dazzler & Twister models with new colors..

One can assume that:

The CBR250R also in all probability won't change much in the coming future..

The first two HMSI models, the 125 cc Shine to the 150 cc Unicorn has changed only cosmetically over the years. The other 125 cc model, the CBF Stunner has also got cosmetic treatment as upgrades.

So when its time to upgrade the latest two HMSI models the (150 cc) CB Unicorn Dazzler and the (110 cc) CB Twister, What could happen?

Cosmetic upgrade of course..!!

15 First Photos of the Next Generation Pulsar..!!

Scoop photos of the Next Generation Pulsar models caught being tested..

Next generation Pulsars are expected to showcased in a couple of weeks time (Dec 2011). Now just before the official unveiling, a couple of heavily camouflaged test mules of what seems like Next Generation Pulsar models were caught being tested near the outskirts of Pune (birthplace of the Pulsar).

Source: newbajajpulsar2012.blogspot.com

Although there are no telltale signs on the bikes, a desi bike enthusiast can make some deductions based on what is seen in those photos.

Why is it the next generation Pulsar?

  • Twin Tail light design: A trademark Pulsar design cue

  • Rear number plate holder design: Similar to the Pulsar 135LS

  • Touches from the KTM Duke 125/200: Centralized exhaust silencer, "KTM Racing" written on the engine casings of the test mules

Its been made public officially that the KTM 125/200 Duke has been co-developed by Bajaj and KTM and that the Duke and the next gen Pulsars would therefore share quite a lot of stuff. Therefore finding traces of the 125/200 Duke on the test mules dispells any doubts that these are indeed photos of the Next Generation Pulsars..!!

9 Review: Daijya Carbon Fibre Helmet

Review of the Daijya Carbon Fibre helmet from DSG..

My previous helmet was a Daijya, that particular helmet was for me a kind of initiation into the world of good quality helmets. It had a good build quality, excellent face shield/visor, snug fitting inner padding and to top it off the helmet looked great. The only issue with my Daijya was that it was a bit heavy.

It seems that the best international helmets usually weighs around 1.5-1.7 kgs. So I guess it’s a small compromise that a serious biker has to make. Unless of course the helmet is constructed out of “Carbon Fibre”..!!

Daijya is the helmet brand from DSG (Dream Sporting Gear), a Pune based Indian brand which is into motorcyle riding gears. The Daijya Carbon Fibre Helmet is the flagship model of the 2011 range of Daijya helmets

Posted below is my review/experience of my new “Daijya Carbon Fibre Helmet”.

3 Pulsar (1st Gen): A Decade of Dominance- Part II [Copying the leader]

From features, to advertisement campaigns, to strategies to downright ‘copycat’ styling.. the Pulsar has been an influence

"There is no ample evidence that a Chinese company has ever replicated Pulsar. The 'news' has originated within India and could be a clandestine method of misleading Indian consumer. Gulsar is only on paper not on road…

..This bike doesn't exist on earth, some vested interest has 'created' a story that a Chinese company has copied Pulsar. There is no concrete evidence of existence of Gulsar. Bike bloggers in India are fooled at this fabricated story."

The above statement was made in a thread on xBhp.com [Click here to visit that thread], India’s premier motorcycle forum. A particular member of that forum wanted to prove a point that the Chinese had never copied the design of the Pulsar.

In 2006, there was news of a particular Chinese made copy of the Pulsar which was being sold in some international markets with the name “Gulsar” (Sic). As evident from the above quoted statements, that particular member has the opinion that the “Gulsar” never existed and “Bike Bloggers” in India have been fooled to believe in this story..!!

Hmm.. “misleading Indian consumers”..?? That’s a serious accusation.
