30 Pulsar (1st Gen): A Decade (2001-11) of Dominance

Documenting the birth and evolution of Pulsar though its 10 years of eventful journey.. a look at the background, competition, memorable advertisements etc.

This month (Nov 2011) marks the competition of 10 years of existence of the Pulsar in India. This post is to summarize the story of the birth and evolution of the Pulsar, a decade (2001-2011) that has been a "Decade of Dominance" for Pulsar.

The Pulsar Decade:

[2001-2007]: Offence

[2008-2011]: Defence

As a motorcycle enthusiast from India and belonging to the generation that was in their 20's at the turn of this century, the Pulsar has been more than a motorcycle to me. The Pulsar to me has been a symbol of the young emerging India, one which has a global perspective yet is still attached firmly to his roots. The Pulsar to me is a testimony of the triumph of Indian ingenuity, business acumen, engineering prowess and a never say die spirit.

The story of the current (lets call it the 1'st) generation of Pulsar can be said to be the story of the 150/180 twins. New (bigger and smaller) members have joined the family but essentially it is the story of the 150/180 brothers.

30 Modifying the rear of the Yamaha R15 V2.0 on the Original R15 might not be possible

Is it possible to put the wide rear tyre of the new R15 V2.0 and the split seats on the old R15?

Proper proportions or the lack of it draws the line between “Attractive/Ugly”, “Sexy/Plain” etc. For example, “36-24-36” rings a bell in your mind, right?

Yamaha R15 Version 2.0

The human brain is sensitive to something that seems to be out of proportion. Imagine a guy with an upper body like Arnold Schwarzenegger but legs like Rajpal Yadav. Despite the never before seen “full fairing” on an affordable bike in India, I had to put the original Yamaha R15 in my “Top 10 not so good looking bike of India”.

So is it possible to modify the older R15’s rear with the current R15 V2.0?

17 Royal Enfield India once also made Scooters & Mopeds..!!

Compilation of a couple of rare Royal Enfield models of yore..

A lot of changes have taken place at Royal Enfield during the last couple of years. Most significant of these changes has been replacing the nearly 50 year old cast iron engine (which had a separate gear casing) with a modern Unit Construction Engine (UCE). The characteristic thump of the single cylinder engine might have been slightly muffled due to the new UCE engine but nevertheless it’s still a 4 stroke thump.

What might surprise / even shock many is that once upon a time Royal Enfield India dabbled in a couple of 2 stroke models, among which there used to be a Scooter, a Moped and a Mini Moped..!!

Posted below are the 2 stroke models that Royal Enfield / Enfield India (as it was also known for sometime) used to manufacture once upon a time.
