7 Bajaj to launch a 150 cc Boxer & a new Discover in India soon

150 cc Boxer & new Discover on the cards..

150 cc Boxer coming up..!!

A couple of weeks back the "desi" blogosphere went berserk with the news that Bajaj is going to resurrected its the Boxer brand in India [After the news was published by national publications].

The Boxer used to be a popular 100 cc model from Bajaj Auto untill it was stopped from production in India in 2004. So the speculation this time was of another 100 cc model. Some blogs also speculated a 125 cc Boxer.

Mr. Bajaj & 150 cc Boxer

But to shock everyone, this time the Boxer is going to come back in a 150 cc avatar..!!

Don't believe me? You should actually, as I am not speculating here without any proof.

Mr. Rajiv Bajaj (MD Bajaj Auto) had himself mentioned about plans for re launching the Boxer brand in India as a Utility brand to the NDTV Profit channel.

And this time with a 150 cc engine..!!

[Click here to watch the video].

[Lets see how many blogs now report this "breaking news", once again]

24 Official News: KTM Duke 200 and next Gen Pulsars by year end..!!

KTM 200 Duke and Next Generation Pulsars to hit India by year end..!! And no, this one is not just another wild, baseless and speculative blog post..!!

Engine parts of the new Pulsars will be shared with the KTM engine..!!

There are numerous blogs/sites which claim that KTM 125 Duke is India bound.. or that a twin cylinder, 250 cc Pulsar will be launched soon.

God knows from where these guys get these wild ideas (as there is never any accompanying proof), but all of them invariably try to sound as if its the "Exclusive Official News" that they have got.

I have always tried to shy away from making wild speculations on my blog without any proof / official announcement / link etc. along with the post.

KTM 125/200 Duke

As previoulsy posted by me (only after I had official proof from the KTM 125 Duke Fanpage), India is indeed set to get a 200 cc, KTM 200 Duke and not the 125 Duke which is basically a model meant for European markets.

With the KTM 200 and bigger than 300 cc models, looks like the Honda CBR250R is set to get a real torrid time..!!

Need proof? Mr. Rajiv Bajaj (MD Bajaj Auto) has said this himself. No, not to me silly.. but to Business Standard Motoring (BS Motoring).

BSM has carried an exclusive interview of Mr. Bajaj on their latest Feb 2011 issue..!! To hot things up, the interview also carries a little bit of info of the new Generation of Pulsar bikes..!!

The following is a snapshot of what has been revealed about the KTM 200 Duke and the new Pulsars in Feb 2011 issue of BSM magazine..

43 2011 Hero Honda Karizma R launched

Details of the 2011 Karizma R has surfaced on Hero Honda's website..

A couple of months back, a guy from my society bought a Pulsar 220F. On being asked why he did not opt for the Hero Honda Karizma R instead, he told me:

"I used to like the Karizma R very much, but now the same bike seems bit outdated".

Therefore to win back such prospective customers out there, Hero Honda have launched its new/refreshed 2011 version of the Karizma R (I had posted about spy pics of the same being seen in late Dec 2010).

So what's new in the new 2011 Karizma R?

2011 Hero Honda Karizma R

Mechanically the 2011 Karizma R gets a Bharat Stage III (BS III) compaint engine. Hero Honda says that the new engine has got "ASFS" tech. The power/torque figures of the engine is still exactly same as the older model. The 2011 Karizma does get a "Maintenance Free battery though.

But the major changes have been limited to "Slight Cosmetic Changes".

48 DRAG RACE: R15 VS PULSAR 220 Vs KARIZMA R Vs RTR 180

Answer to the frequently asked question: "Which bike is faster among the Pulsar 220, the Yamaha R15, the Hero Honda Karizma R/ZMR and the TVS Apache RTR 180?

"We have had organized umpteen number of drag sessions (between the Yamaha R15, Bajaj Pulsar 220 and the TVS Apache RTR 180) and here is what we have experienced:

1. Pulsar 220 DTS-i v/s Apache RTR 180: Pulsar 220 is quicker in outright as well as roll-on acceleration

2. Apache RTR 180 V/s Yamaha R15(older ones): Apache RTR (180) is quicker till 105km/hr but post those speeds Yamaha R15 catches up really quickly and there's no stopping it once it gets past those speeds. I would say both are evenly matched when it comes to overall performance with R15 having a better top end. Newer Yamaha R15's are slower as compared to the older ones

3. Pulsar 220 DTS-i is a speed/torque monster and it will mince both the bikes to smithereens!!"

This above observation/comment has been made by a member (who also happens to be an Apache RTR 180 owner ) Chicane1879 of xBhp forum. From his observation it is clear that the Pulsar 220 is indeed the fastest in a straight line.

What about the Karizma R/Karizma ZMR?
