6 Royal Enfield to put its UCE (Unit Construction Engine) across all its models in 2010 + Royal Enfield @ Auto Expo 2010

Models shown at the Royal Enfield pavilion @ AutoExpo 2010.. all had UCE (Unit Contruction Engine)..

Among the models showed by Royal Enfield at the 2010 Auto Expo were a Cafe Racer Concept, Classic 500, Bullet 350, Thunderbird Twinspark and two export models viz. a Classic 500 in Military "Battle Green" Color and another in Chrome. One noticable thing was that all these models had been fitted with the UCE (Unit Construction Engine) of Royal Enfield.

A quick trip to the Royal Enfield site revealed that in 2010, all its models will get the new Unit Construction Engine.

About the Auto Expo 2010 on R.E Site

The Classic 500/350 & the Thunderbird Twinspark models already come with the UCE engine and now even the Bullet 350 and the Electra-5S are going to get the UCE makeover.

What does it mean?

It means that the tradition Royal Enfield "Right Foot Gear Shifter" (currently present only on the Bullet 350) and the "C.I (Cast Iron) Engine" (doing its duty right now on the Bullet 350 and Electra 5-S) are going to be relegated to history books.

Well, purists will definitely be sad.. but then "Change is the only Constant"

Videos of bikes displayed at the 2010 Auto Expo.. by BikeAdvice.in

Reports have been coming in that the 2010 Auto Expo has been so crowded, that many guys had to come out of the venue instead of visiting the pavilions.

For those who have not yet visited the Auto Expo or those who visited, yet missed catching a glimpse of the bikes displayed, Deepak from www.BikeAdvice.in has shot a few videos (in HD) and uploaded them on YouTube. A bit of commentary along with the footage could have made it more interesting and informative.. but still, thanks Deepak for the videos and the effort.

2 Auto Expo 2010 Coverage: A Virtual Trip

A delightful Pictoral "Virtual Trip" through the 2010 New Delhi Auto Expo, courtesy DriveInside.Com.. and oh yes, Happy New Year..!!

This is my first post after a year's break from blogging, and boy it does feel awkward.. it is like I am back in a familiar town after spending sometime elsewhere.. I feel a little out of place back in the old town. Maybe things/nerves should settle down after a few days/posts.

Ok so its 2010 now.. exactly 2 years after the the Racy Yamaha R15 and the muscular FZ16 were first unveiled at the 2008 Auto Expo. Therefore it was but natural for any passionate biker worth his riding gloves to be expecting something even more exciting at the 2010 Auto Expo.

Sadly for bikers, the 2010 Auto Expo has so far turned out to be a damp squib..

Sadly for bikers, the 2010 Auto Expo has so far turned out to be a damp squib. Yes, I know that 12 Harley Davidson models have been unveiled there, but then for a middle class "Biker next door" like me, these exotic beauties are as good as a "Vertu" mobile phone.

I had decided to give this year's Auto Expo a miss, I am therefore dependent (for the 2010 AutoExpo updates) on other passionate auto enthusiasts who have visited the Auto Expo, shot photos and uploaded them on photosharing sites. Today, I happened to stumble upon an excellent colleciton of photos shot at the Auto Expo and uploaded at Flickr.Com. It has been shot and uploaded by guys from the site "www.driveinside.com".

TVS@AutoExpo 2010

Good quality photos have been arranged in a thoughtful slideshow format, which will take you into a "Virtual Tour" inside "Pragati Maidan", the venue of the 2010 Auto Expo. Right from the entrance of the venue, the Pavilions, the models (2/4 wheeled and also the 2 legged kind) and even the outdoors of the venue has been delightfully shot and presented.

Great job you "DriveIndia.com" guys.

P.S: Over the next couple of days days, I'll try my best to collect more info and photos on 2 wheelers shown at the 2010 Auto Expo.

11 I am back..!!

I am back after a year's hiatus..

It has exactly been a year (and a couple of days) since I last made a post on my blog. For the past one year I was busy with personal and professional commitments, which I was fully aware of and had therefore decided to stop posting for a while.

With things falling in place for me, I think I should be able to resume my online diary once again.

I should be back to my old self in the next couple of days.
