9 Honda Dream Yuga Launched [Colors/Specs/Features/Price]

Honda launches its lowest priced motorcycle the Dream Yuga in India..

"Ek naya Dream, Ek naya Yug" that's the tag line of the recently launched Dream Yuga (ok so "Yuga" is supposed to mean "Yug").

This particular 110 cc motorcycle is a very important India specific model for Honda. So far Honda has managed to notch up impressive sales numbers because of the success (nearly monopoly) of it's automatic scooters (headed by the Activa). Although motorcycle models like the Unicorn, Shine etc. has been around for quite sometime, the contribution of motorcycles in overall 2 wheeler volumes for Honda in India has been modest.

Dream Yuga is the only motorcyle in the current Honda lineup not to have that "CB" branding..!!

With the Dream Yuga, Honda hopes to make an impact in the belly of the market (100-110 cc motorcycles). The Dream Yuga looks quite decent in the photos. Styling in a way reminds of the 125 cc Shine. The engine has been borrowed from Honda's Twister. I was quite impressed with the 110 cc Twister's engine so am expecting the Dream Yuga to perform flawlessly in the engine dept.

Features: In terms of features there is not much to talk about. But Honda has to be applauded for giving "Tubeless Tyres" on the alloy wheeled variants. Interestingly among the current Honda motorcycle models only the CB Unicron remains with Tubed tyres (which I am sure will be also put very soon).

The Dream Yuga also gets a "Paper Air Filter", another common feature among current Honda India motorcycles.

Price: Honda has a tendeny to price its models at a premium (at least at launch). The Dream Yuga too is priced slighly higher than what is available in the market. The top variant of the Dream Yuga is costiler than a Hero Passion Pro with similar features. Also the entry level Discover 100 (with elect. start, alloy wheels and 4 gears) is priced lower (Rs.43,000 ex-showroom Delhi) than the cheapest variant of the Dream Yuga.

Dream Yuga Price: (Ex-showroom Delhi as on May 15, 2012)
Kickstart/drum brakes/spoke - Rs. 44,642
Kickstart/drum brakes/alloy wheels - Rs. 46,134
Self start/drum brakes/alloy wheels - Rs. 48,125

By the way Honda has roped in Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar as its brand ambassador.

Will the Dream Yuga stand out among the current offerings and appeal to the masses?
What do you think?

Lot of people told Twister's mileage is impressive(around >65), but the design is not liked by the common man who is like Passion Pro or Splendor. If the Dreamyuga satisfies the mileage, then it will be tough competition for Passion pro, splendor and discover.

dream yuga is weirdest name on indian 2 wheeler market.

People won't mind spending few more grands over the ageing Passion and the vulnerable Discover 100 for this new Honda.
It has almost everything that a common man wants : Excellent engine, proven mechanicals and Honda's value.

Anil, agreed.. but the Passion and Discover has years of existance, word of mouth and brand name behind them. And building that kind of brand name takes years.

It is similar to how the Suzuki Alto/Swift sell in thousands every month dspite "better" models around.

Yes, the name could have been better

This is a close call by HMSI . It's the first time they are targeting the splendor's market segment directly and they are nervous about it (else they'd have priced it a just less tha the splendor models). Next they may try something near the cd-deluxe .
All it needs now is factory fitted leg-guard, saree-guard, tool-box, and a carrier type grab-handle lol .

@KK Vinay Kumar, paper air filter is exactly the definition literally, engine inhaust air filter made of paper.

I dunno whether it uses the wet or dry version, but this type of filter is known for its better performance (compared to foam air filter) in filtering the dust & dirt. The wet type is better than the dry, but it can't be cleaned at all and needs a disciplined periodical change.

On the grounds of looks, people have better options than it but if we compare their mileage and power in 110cc segment,Dream Yuga scores good.
