17 Honda unveils its CBR150R at the 2012 AutoExpo [Photos/Specs]

Honda (HMSI) shows off its sporty motorcycles for India.. the racy CBR150R..!!

Honda unveils its latest model targetted at the Yamaha R15, the CBR150R at the 2012 AutoExpo..!!

The CBR150R would be more of a "Race track tool" than the "Sports tourer" like CBR250R...

Both the CBR250R and the CBR150R is manufactured in Thailand so probably we can expect the CBR150R to be manufactured in India as well (since HMSI makes the CR250R in India). At first glance the CBR150R appears similar like its elder brother the CBR250R, but there are some differences between the two models which are skin deep.

For example, the frame of the CBR150R is a bit more sporty and has a "perimeter" element to it (apart from having a downtube as well) wheareas the CBR250R usues a simpler "tubular diamond" frame. The exhaust can of the CBR150R is also shorter and more pleasing to the eye than that of the CBR250R.

The engine of the CBR150R sold in Thailand is a single cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC 4 valve unit and develops its max. power of 17.8 Ps at a higher rpm (10,500..!!) than the relatively mildly tuned CBR250R. With a sportier chassis and an engine with a sportier state of tune, we can expect the CBR150R to be more of a "Race track tool" than the "Sports tourer" like CBR250R.

Looks like the Yamaha R15 finally has some serious competition.

Price: The official pricing has not been announced, but it's probably safe to expect a price hovering around the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0's current (i.e between 1.10-1.25 ex-showroom Delhi)

Launch Date: It's being stated as the "second half of 2012"

@Varun, 19 Ps for the CBR150R is a wild speculation thaks to our "expert" blogs.

It is 17.8 Ps, you can check out the Honda Indonesia site: http://www.astra-honda.com/

Should be a good bike and timing is bit late.
CBR150 should have come lot eariler than this.
I am sure Honda will price it at a slight premium over the R15 and that will make give the costumers a choice to think of KTM and other larger capacity bikes.
The specifications look more like a high revving 'mini ninja 250' than CBR250.
Hope Honda prices it well and proves me wrong

Just waiting to read about bajaj/ktm @ auto expo.

Payeng said...

@Santosa,

Bajaj has skipped the Auto Expo with its 2 wheelers.. therefore no KTM, Kawasaki or Bajaj bikes at the 2012 Auto Expo

@payeng
then for me auto expo already loosed all of its shine.

Personally, this move of Honda doesn't make lot of sense to me. From the specs, it doesn't look like it can outgun R15. Besides, there is Duke 200 & upgraded(liquid cooled) pulsars around the corner. Don't know what Honda was thinking. It might just end up killing ZMR, apart from that I don't see doing much in our market.

After kooling this 150 cc avatar of cbr250, & after guessing its 1.1 lakh price tag, I m going to love my Dazzler more & more, As Dazzler is like Naked avatar of the same with much less price. Just look at the rear section of bike, and compare it with Dazzler, u will find, what I mean to say.....

This bike will give a great fight to R15 can't wait for it to come in market in Bangladesh.

the specs provided here are same as display with the at auto expo? i think they displayed as 18 bhp..as mentioned in other sites

10% (+/-) error in quoting the official power figures is allowed in India.. the specs put above is the international specs for the CBR150R.

I don't think that there would be any difference for the Indian model.. most probably HMSI is rounding off the 17.8 Ps to 18 Ps (by the way there is a small difference between Ps and bhp)

yes i agree but r15 16.8bhp is less thn 18 bhp of cbr 150 r...cbr 150 r is clear winner in terms performance and comfort..

12.6 nm torque very much less thn r15...
