30 Modifying the rear of the Yamaha R15 V2.0 on the Original R15 might not be possible

Is it possible to put the wide rear tyre of the new R15 V2.0 and the split seats on the old R15?

Proper proportions or the lack of it draws the line between “Attractive/Ugly”, “Sexy/Plain” etc. For example, “36-24-36” rings a bell in your mind, right?

Yamaha R15 Version 2.0

The human brain is sensitive to something that seems to be out of proportion. Imagine a guy with an upper body like Arnold Schwarzenegger but legs like Rajpal Yadav. Despite the never before seen “full fairing” on an affordable bike in India, I had to put the original Yamaha R15 in my “Top 10 not so good looking bike of India”.

So is it possible to modify the older R15’s rear with the current R15 V2.0?

Yamaha has more than redeemed itself by revamping the rear of the new R15. Now the Yamaha R15 V2.0 finds place in my list as one of the best looking bikes of India.

First, lets see what different in terms of proportions at the rear of the new Yamaha R15 Version 2.0

    1. 130 section rear tyre compared to the 100 section on the older one
    2. Longer wheelbase (1345 mm Vs 1290 mm) due to a new aluminum swingarm
    3. Raised split seat compared to the flatter single piece seat

Yamaha R15 'Original'

Can the 130 section rear tyre from the R15 Version 2.0 be fitted on the older R15?

The fatter and bigger wheel would require a change in the swingarm, and even if the new aluminum swingarm is somehow installed there is more probability that the handling of the bike would go for a toss due to the altered geometry.

Also along with the new tyre and swingarm, the R15 Version 2.0 also gets different sized sprockets and a new ECU which has been timed for slightly better throttle response.

Therefore it’s definitely not advised to fit the new fatter tyre of the R15 V2.0 on the older R15.

Can the raised split seats of the R15 Version 2.0 be fitted on the older R15?

To fit the new raised and split seats, the chassis of the new R15 Version 2.0 gets a new sub-frame. As can be seen in the above photo, the older sub frame won’t provide the support for the newly designed seats of the new R15 Version 2.0.

Therefore one would need to fit the new sub frame to achieve the desired effect on an older R15.

My take:

The cost and the risk of not getting the mod job correct doesn’t justify the trouble of getting the modification done. In case someone needs the revamped rear of the R15 badly, then it would be product to sell the older R15 and buy the new R15 Version 2.0 instead.

yamaha r15 v 2.0 is the ugliest bike that I have ever come across. In fact most of you would be puzzled by this but if you look at this bike in real, you would know what I am trying to say. The bike looks like a cheap Chinese plastic toy with its substandard quality of plastics and if you look at the rear end of the bike carefully, you will also notice how disproportionately the raised split seat looks in comparison with the overall contour of the bike's design. The front end of the bike is rather too low in comparison to its butt which seems to be raised way too high than its fuel tank. The pillion rider feels like they are on top of a house chimney or something like that. I don't criticize the split seat design but the way it has come out is not at all appealing.

As Yash said, i too feel the split elevated seat is horrible. Is it possible to mod it to a single seat and decrease pillon height as in the v1.0?

Yamaha R15 2.0 is a very good looking bike, not the worst as to what yash has said. but he did ve a point, the overall design is a Little weird compared to its siblings, the raised tail n split seats is a killer look, but it is a little beyond its physical structure. check out yamaha r6 and r125{ dnt forget tat r125 has a gud physical structure/ n our r15 2.0 is mr.Thin/ hence the tail should also b like wise}. its tail structure is a perfect match with the macho body unlike what they veoffered us. i myself ride 2.0 but i still wish the tail somehow could ve been better{ not at all bad though} i love it for there is still less option. its a gud bike all in all.

Is it possible to decrease pillon height of current R15 V2.0??????

well i think the pillion in the V.2 is for the girls to sit ... and it is far better i think (Yash owns a decal of Ducati Monster) or else if he owns one then the riding position of the ducati and the R15 is almost similar .... hahahaha ...

is r15 version 2.0 scope fitted fr fazer?
How it looks like?

I am somewhat disappointed with the design of the r15 version 2.0. The rear pillion seats have been raised too high in comparison to its short front end which look kind of weird. If you happen to notice the bike from the rear, you can see that the high pillion perch completely ruins the design of the bike and also makes the tank look so tiny. I like the old bike's design more that that of the new one.

Yamaha Indonesia openly said that the Yamaha 250 cc motorcycle R25, has power over the Ninja and CBR250R. If the existing YZF-R25 in 36 ps, maximum power Ninja 250 is in figure 32 ps, while the Honda CBR250R stands at 29 PS to 9,000 RPM.

v2s swingarm is a direct fit for the v1....so there is no problem in fitting that
the parts you will need are
1. swingarm
2. rear shocker
3. rear caliper
4. v2 rim
5. sprocket and chain
and some other small bits
