13 KTM 200 Duke Official Specifications Revealed [Photo/Video]

200 cc, 25 bhp, 125 Kgs dry weight.. which means CBR250R equaling power but around 30 Kgs lesser weight than the CBR250R..!!

KTM has shown the 200 Duke at the on going 2011 Milan Motorcycle Show and has also officially made public it's specifications on its official website. The 200 Duke is the KTM model which will be sold in India. The peak power output of the 200 Duke has surprised most by equaling Honda CBR250R's 25 bhp..!!

The dry weight of the 200 Duke according to specs is 125 Kgs which means that the Kerb weight should not be more than 135-137 Kgs. Even at 135 Kgs the 200 Duke remains a good 30 Kgs lighter than the CBR250R (167 Kgs, Kerb weight). This could just mean one thing, twist the throttle of the KTM 200 Duke and unleash the hooligan in you..!!

Although I'll be missing an ABS unit found on the CBR250R as an option, the 200 Duke should definitely be my next bike when it gets launched in India. Just hoping the KTM 200 Duke makes it to India in the same specs and is not priced more than the non-ABS Honda CBR250R (around Rs. 1.5 lakh ex-showroom)

Greatt Street Fighter bike.
But why are you comparing it with CBR 250R ?
Both have totally different character
This can't do top wreck like CBR due to its naked body ( Zero Aerodynamics ).
Plus why are forgetting about the Torque difference between these two bike.

Performance figure will shut everyones mouth .....
Q : Can KTM 200 Power:Weight gain overcome CBR 250R's Aerodtnamic Advantage and Torque Difference ?
Q : If CBR 250R does 0-100kmph under 8 sec then in how much time KTM 200 will do ?

@Above,

Valid point. The Honda CBR250R and KTM 200 Duke are different kind of bikes.

But a comparision with the CBR250R would give a rough idea of how the 200 Duke would feel given that it weighs about 30+ Kgs lesser.

well the KTM Duke Sorta looks Like yamaha's Triple macho style FZ look.. zero aerodynamics though.. maybe KTM 200 is Stictly a City bike...whereas CBR is more aerodynamical and more soothing to looks at also great for highway cruising as the CBR250 is meant to be a Cruiser bike as Honda Mentions it..

You do not want DUCATI?

Payeng said...

@Anirban, more is never enough :-)

But seriously, I don''t see winning the Ducati, the competition is tough. The 200 Duke is actually Dream come True for me. Just hope it's not priced too high.

@Shraman, there will be always takers for full fairing in India..

hey payeng even i am a big lover of naked bike nd bhp section put a full throttle of excitement in me and like you i am also hoping that the price must be not too high >>>> cheers

The CBR250R will have to go necked to shed some weight to improve on the power to weight ratio plus doing this it will help itself in the looks department as well. So losing the full fairing will drop the weight as well as the cost of the bike. Thus allowing it to compete with the KTM Duke 200 both in terms of price as well as performance. Ya & i think that Yamaha will have to go back to their drawing board for their 250cc bike seeing the KTM Duke 200 specs.

Thanks bro for these kinds of great info.
This mean machine can turn any man horny :P

Now INDIA SHINNING w.r.t performance bike.
If we have choice then it makes life easy.

With KTM 200 in upcoming bike, india has almost wide range of bikes for its own taste.

Ppl wanting true super sport class bikes :
Ninja 250R & R15 V2 ... What can it do ?
Perfect Track Tool, Proper Super Sport Model Downscale.
These two bikes are 100% track class, 80% tour class, 60% city class & 40% offroad class.

CBR 250R.... What can it do ?
Perfect Tourer after legendary Zama, another HONDA product :)
This bike is for 100% tourer, 80% city class, 70% track class & 50% offroad class.

KTM 200.... What can it do ?
Perfect Street Bike after Yamaha's FZ
This bike is for 100% city, 80% offroad, 70% tourer & 50% track class. This bike will be NIRVANA for Stunt Riders :)
with its low & mid range punch it will definetly be nxt indian's hot stunting bike.Thats wat i want it for .... :)

Its light weight will halp sunt riders(like me) get going on and on. Price tag is not a concern till 1.5 lac. But beyond that range it will make ppl think twice.

But pure lovers will never complain about anything (even price tag too ).
What say Payeng ???

I just hope that apart from the tangibles, it's got two things that a 1 lakh+ bike ought to have- Premium quality and presence.

The CBR has disappointed on both fronts, but the duke has revived hopes. Also, we can safely assume that it's gonna be priced at abt 1.4 lac and at this price point, its TG is not gonna crib if Bajaj-KTM charges a few thousands more to bring premium with it. A 1.6 price tag with top-notch stuff is better than 1.4 with compromises.

@Melville and above,

Completely agree
