February 2011 sales numbers of our Indian 2 wheeler manufacturers..

The Feb 2011 sales numbers doesn't throw in any surprises.. with Hero Honda at number one position followed by Bajaj Auto, TVS and HMSI respectively, it's double digit growth for all manufacturers.

Note:

1. The monthly sales figures include domestic sales as well as exports. Also it includes sales of all types of 2 wheelers (Motorcycles, Scooters, Mopeds etc.)



Hero Honda sold 472,055 units in February 2011 (Up by 23.5% over last year)

Hero Honda Two-wheeler maker Hero Honda on Tuesday reported its best sales for February at 472,055 units, registering a jump of 23.54 per cent over the same month last year. The company had sold 382,096 units in the corresponding month last year.

“This is also the 10th consecutive month of 4-lakh plus sales for the company,” it added. “Our performance throughout this fiscal has been very consistent and the strong February numbers are a positive indication for the growth to continue,” Hero Honda Motors Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua said.

The company’s scooter model ‘Pleasure’ continues to do exceedingly well with clocking an average of 30,000 units a month, he added.




Bajaj Auto sold 286,657 units of two-wheelers in February 2011 (Up by 22.1% over last year)

Bajaj Auto Ltd. The country's second largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto reported 22.18 per cent jump in its sales for February at 286,657 units over the same month last year.

The company had sold 234,623 units in February last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.

BAL's exports went up 31.93 per cent to 102,433 units in last month from 77,642 units in February, 2010. The company reported a rise of 18.40 per cent in its three-wheeler sales during last month at 40,217 units as against 33,968 units during the same month last year.

Total vehicle sales of the company in last month were best for February and stood at 326,874 units compared to 268,678 units in the same period a year ago, a growth of 21.66 per cent, the statement said.



TVS Motor sold 173,200 units of two-wheelers in February 2011 (Up by 23% over last year)

TVS Motors TVS Motor Company has reported total two-wheeler sales of 23 per cent growth with sales of 173,200 units in February 2011 as against 140,544 units in February 2010.

Domestic sales of the company grew by 25 per cent with sales of 151,526 units in February 2011 as against 121,403 units in February 2010. Sales of scooter grew by 49 per cent to 40,335 units from 27,017 units sold in February 2010.

Motorcycle sales grew by 13 per cent in February 2011 to 71,462 units from 63,394 units reported in February 2010. Sales of three-wheelers almost doubled from 2,132 units in February 2010 to 4,212 units in February 2011. On its exports, the company sold 24,036 units up by 13 per cent over the same month of previous year, it added.



Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has sold 145,819 units of two-wheelers in February 2011 (up by 19.3% over last year)

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported 19.27 per cent growth in sales at 145,819 units in February 2011. The company's total sales stood at 122,261 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, HMSI said in a statement.

Motorcycle sales jumped 27.54 per cent to 65,890 units in February this year as against 51,661 units in February 2010, it added. The company reported an increase of 13.21 per cent in scooter sales to 79,929 units in last month from 70,600 units a year ago during the same month.



Yamaha India sold 33,046 units of two-wheelers in February 2011 (Up by 28.3% over last year)

Yamaha India Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today reported 28.26% increase in its total sales at 33,046 units in February. The company had sold 25,764 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.

In the domestic market, the company's sales stood at 23,384 units as against 17,131 in the same month last year, up 36.50%. Exports of India Yamaha rose by 11.92% to 9,662 units from 8,633 units in the year-ago period, it added.

"The company has displayed an upbeat spell in sales, on account of a strong product portfolio and high customer confidence," India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and MD Hiroyuki Suzuki said.



Suzuki Motorcycle India has sold 28,738 units of two-wheelers in February 2011 (Up by 24.9% over last year)

Suzuki Motorcycle India Two-wheeler maker Suzuki Motorcycle India today reported a 24.86 per cent growth in sales during February, 2011, to 28,738 units, compared to 23,016 units in the same month last year.

"We have received a very good response from the market to all our products, including the newly-launched Suzuki SlingShot series. We are committed to continue this growth momentum in future," Suzuki Motorcycle India Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Atul Gupta said in a statement.



Mahindra 2 Wheelers has sold 12,682 units of two-wheelers in February 2011 (Up by 30% over last year)

Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mahindra Two Wheelers today said its sales jumped 30 per cent in February to 12,682 units as against 9,726 units in the same month last year.

The total cumulative sales jumped 162 per cent in the period April 2010 to February 2011 at 151,164 units as compared to 57,711 units in the same period last year, the company said in a statement here.
