34 New Honda CBR 150R, India bound?

Honda to upgrade its CBR 150R as the New CBR 150R in Thailand.. will it make into India?

Update [Sep 2011]: Honda (HMSI) India has launched a 250 cc CBR250R which shares similar styling with the CBR150R.

But there are rumors about the CBR150R making it to India probably by 2012

Photo of the New CBR 150R for Thailand has appeared.. So is this the speculated New Honda bike for India? More importantly will there be a 250 cc variant of the same bike for India or will it be the same 150 cc for India too?

New CBR 150R

Just a couple of days back I had posted about a speculated Honda 250 cc that is being prepared for an India launch very soon. According to the latest development, it is being learnt that a couple of automotive journos from India are being invited by Honda to Thailand.

Thailand is the country where Honda has manufactured the CBR 125R model which is exported to Europe and also a CBR 150R to cater to the domestic Thai market.

Now after launch of the Yamaha YZF R125 in Europe, the Honda CBR 125R was definitely looking quite outdated. An update was required and from the photos posted below, it looks like Honda has updated its CBR 150R. The CBR 150R has been officially unveiled and the test ride for the journos is slated for a 30'th Oct date.

Which model for India?

Update [Sep, 2011]: Honda (HMSI) India has launched a 250 cc CBR250R which shares similar styling with the CBR150R.

But there are rumors about the CBR150R making it to India probably by 2012

Is whether the same CBR 150R is being considered for India as well? Or whether India will get a 250 cc variant based (as speculated earlier) on the same platform? Or could there be an entirely new 250/300 cc model for India?

There are many questions.. and looks like the answers would come only after the Indian journos attend the launch/test ride in Thailand.

By the way the New Honda CBR 150R is speculated to be priced at 75,900 Bhat (Thai Currency), which when converted to Indian rupess is around the 1.10-1.15 lakh mark. Which if Honda can match the price in India, puts the CBR 150R bang on with the Yamaha R15..!!

If the Honda decides to launch the CBR 150R in India then Yamaha should be concerned with the R15 for the new CBR 150R does look awesome for a 150 cc bike..!!

If it is coming to india , then it is fine ... But it will shoot up to 1.5 lakhs for a 150 cc ...bike ....

Looks very impressive for a 150cc, built on the lines of the VFR. If at all it's launched in India, it would be interesting to see the price tag and also how it paces up with the R15

sadly everyhitng boils down to money here in India.

Great post SP!
This one looks magnificent for a 150 cc. However, I'm a bit apprehensive about Honda launching it here in the same guise.

Reason- Honda already has two bikes in the 150 cc segment. So marketing logic might dictate otherwise. Plus if the speculated price point of ~1.5 lakhs is true, it will be quite pricey for just 150ccs of displacement. However, if they choose to price it anywhere below the R15's price, which I think they must, I'm standing in queue to get one. Right Now!

If they price it above the 1 lakh mark, they better bump up the displacement to atleast 200cc. At first glance the bike seems flawless. Perhaps the extra-tall touring windshield is the only thing that looks odd.

P.S. The tailpiece looks exactly like the Dazzler's!

i wish India gets this 150 cc version 'coz 250 cc will cost above 2lacs & that will be the same story as K Ninza and out of reach of many...
bt CBR150R this version will definitely compete n beat ZMR or R15 i hope...

Ohhh god, Not again....
Sae 150 cc ubicorn engine...
Then its same repeated story of FZ to Fazer...
(offcourse with some Honda touch, PFI system)
Give me some more cc...
If I want to spend my hard earned money for power, why shouldn't I opt for Mahindra Mojo???

If its really (only) 150 cc bike, then its only competative answer for r15...
Nothing innovative or umphhh from Honda...
Seems like Honda is just copy cat from Yamaha here!!!

Technology, if it's not within your reach, is useless.

"Technology, if it's not within your reach, is useless": Aptly said Ce$ar.

And like many have stated above the Pricing will be key if the CBR 150R does come to India. I think that the R15 has set the stage ready for people to accept a modern 150 cc at 1.1-1.2 lakh Indian Rupees.

But still there are guys would would like something more than 150 cc.

The Website Refered you in the blog has following statements

Honda CBR150R FI will be available in the market from November 10 at a starting price of 75,900 baht. The company targets annual sales of 10,000 units. For special promotion, the first 1,000 customers will receive stylist jackets worth more than 2,000 baht (limited items), one-year emergency and medical service package from Honda Roadside Assistance and a safe riding skill course based on the company's conditions.

If they launch this bike in India

Whether they will give jackets and safe Riding Skill Course for us in India ..

i already had a CB 110 honda model 2010, with the Php 62,000.00 with free registration. now, how much is CBR 150R in the Philippines money?

@plaza2004,

bro, i have a 2007 CBR 150 which costs 130K pesos. I got the bike for 128K cash. I bought it from hondamar in caloocan.. Now with the new CBR 150R equipped with EFI engine and semi-digital panel, expect the price to shoot up from 180K to 200K. If you happen to pass by along Buendia, there is a honda dealer there with 150R on display outside the casa. Should that be the price, go get the kawasaki ninja 250R which is sold around 220K. For sure, it is more stylish and FASTER of course than the CBR 150.

cbr 150 very well and good, good and tidy disen make consumers confused to choose between honda cbr kawasaki 150 or 250, the price is relatively little difference between the two. between 41 to 46. but I still choose this latest honda cbr.
honda cbr go forward,
i love u honda

could you tell me when it launches in india?

Payeng said...

there are rumours of an early 2012 launch

Hello,

I guess this is a trick to fool around Indian Bikers & bring down the sales of competetion.

Guess wat the CBR 250R launch is 6 months old story now and I don't think the 150 is going to be released for Indians!!

Would be more than happy if Honda proves me wrong !!

Glory of Honda in India will rise with the launch of CBR150r,pricing of the bike should be good as compared to Yamaha R15 which is not value for money bike with such low specs.World #1 Honda should price this bike in range of 1lac so that there is no scope for Yamaha R15 in Indian market.
