22 Bring this one to India: Honda CBR 150R [Photos/Tech Specs]

More photos of the new Honda CBR 150R, plus the official technical specifications..

I am sure that Indian bikers would not mind paying Rs. 10K-15K more than the Yamaha R15 for this "Thai Beauty"..

Unlike the two other full faired bikes (made and) sold in India (the Yamaha R15 and the Karizma ZMR), the new Honda CBR 150R looks like to have been designed with a clean sheet of paper.

The lines, proportions and details on the new CBR 150R is just perfect. The rear end looks healthy and proportionate. The rear tyre is "130" section, which is 3 sizes over the rear tyre of the Yamaha R15 and the same size as that of the Ninja 250R. In fact the front tyre of the new CBR 150R is of the same size as the rear tyre of the R15..!!

Honda CBR 150R

The front fairing on the new CBR 150R doesn't look like a forced job. The new CBR 150R in fact does full justice to its "CBR" lineage. I am very sure that Indian bikers would not mind paying Rs. 10K-15K more than the Yamaha R15 for this "Thai Beauty" just based on the looks.

Yamaha India officials must be really concerned with the possibility of an India launch for the new CBR 150R. I say, bring it on Honda. Match the price of the Yamaha R15 and it should have no problem selling more than the 10,000 units per annum (sales target for Thailand) in India.

"New Honda CBR 150R is speculated to be priced at 75,900 Bhat (Thai Currency), which when converted to Indian rupees is around the 1.10-1.15 lakh mark."
If this is true, then I am going to stand in queue from now.

By the way, why so many complaints on the cubic displacement. 150CC with 4 valve DOHC Liquid cooled PGM-Fi engine with power output of 18 Bhp @ 10500 rpm is very good. This would definitely give around 150kmph top speed. Why do you need more CC and power?
If Yamaha R15 would have come with higher CC, the price would definitely increase and go beyond the reach of youths in India. Yamaha wouldn't have such sales success then. A company cannot always bring out products for enthusiasts.

By the way, congrats to you Payeng for the new car. I turned 21 previous year, so I also got a car(father's 5yr old Maruti Zen). I agree with your statement "sense of security and comfort . I also regularly take out my car, and feel the same way.
But bikes will always be about thrills and passion, which cannot be forgotten.

150 is becoming a potent category I guess. This one's beautiful too - the other one being R15.

Though, am surprised at the sluggishness of Motorcycle brands in India when it comes to introducing such models in the country. Hope this one does make it soon.

Do you have a racetrack in your house or do you live near one??

We need a dynamically-great bike that is refined, reasonably comfortable, doesn't look ugly and is sensible priced.

Satadal, PLEASE don't give them ideas!!!I have a hunch that Honda, being the greedy bastards that they have become, will price this like the way they have priced their Jazz hatchback. Out of the market and the consumer's minds!

WOW this one has everything in it. Beautiful and not like anything headlamp. Big tires. Great styling. Honda brand image !! What else we need for a 150cc bike. If Honda prices it near to R15 they have a winner in their hands.

Great bike :) Still a 250cc motor would have been much better.

Typo...I meant 'sensibly priced' in my earlier comment.

BTW, the old CBR 150R looked like an insect on two wheels!

Payeng said...

@Akash , thanks for the wishes bro.

@Shubhankar and Siddharth, yep it might be 150 cc in cc but a potent package packed with all the possible goodies nevertheless.

@Shaiju, you are right a higher cc option would be even better

@Melville, yep the older CBR looked funny. Goes to show what a proper design can do

I posted a query about 'a new Honda bike in the 150-250 cc category to be launched around Diwali.' and this is the reply I got today-

"Dear Sir,

We thank you for visiting our website and expressing your interest in Honda Products to be launched.

As you would understand that launching any product is related to company’s business strategy, which is dependent on the need of the market, Product range & launch schedules are finalized very near to the actual launch of the product.

We would like to inform you that we release limited press information in the leading Newspapers whenever any product launch is finalized. Also our Dealers do Local level promotions to inform the launch of new products to prospective customers.

We hope you will appreciate the same.

Thanking you once again for your interest in HONDA.

So, they aren't giving anything away. I am skeptical about the email reply that a guy had posted on the Xbhp forum which was picked up by numerous blogs and sites...

@Melville, thanks for the update dude..

it looks like we'll have to wait for a couple of weeks till Honda declares its intentions officially.

But since some of our auto journos have been invited to Thailand, something's must be in the air

melville said...

Yeah, I truly hope something IS in the air!
This time though, I'm gonna be cynical for a change rather than hopeful. The last time I was waiting with bated breath, we got the MOJO!!

cbr 150 if it comes to the market means surely the youngsters will be turning to buy cbr but the price should not exceed moer than 115000 otherwise it wil be more costly and they wil not interfear

Anonymous said...

If they give any offers at the begining it would be good for youngsters of middle class, who can buy this instead of apache or pulsar, so that honda can compete with apache, pulsar karizma and also with r15, lets hope the price will be reasonable
