Suzuki Motorcycles India replace its 125 cc Zeus model with the SlingShot..
It is basically the Zeus with a new design and name
Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched a new 125 cc model called as the "SlingShot". The name might suggest that this model is a street scorcher. But actually the bike is virtually the same 125 cc Zeus.. with the same 125 cc, 5-gear engine.. albeit with a different name and different body panels.
Front Disc brake is absent even as an option..
..the headlamp is not gelling with an otherwise decent design
By the way, the 125 cc Zeus has been removed (the Heat had been already removed from the product lineup few months back) from Suzuki Motorcycle India's website. Which probably means that the Zeus brand has been stopped and the SlingShot will be its replacement.
So what's new in the Suzuki SlingShot?
- New body panels
- New 10 spoke alloy wheel design
- New tail and head lamp design
- Electric start as standard with both alloy and spoke wheel variants
- No front Disc brake option (at least till now)
The name "SlingShot" could have been reserved for something more appropriate..
Following its international trend of not putting the peak power and torque figures of its models on its website (God knows why!!), Suzuki India too hasn't made the peak power figure of this new bike public in its website. Despite that, it is learnt that the peak power is somewhere around the 8.83 Ps mark, which was the same that the Zeus used to make.
Price:
- Spoke Wheel + Self Start: Rs. 43,945 (Ex-Showroom Delhi) Rs. 48,027 (On road Delhi)
Alloy Wheel + Self Start: Rs. 45,911 (Ex-Showroom Delhi) Rs. 50,140 (On road Delhi)
So basically the alloy wheel variant is about Rs. 2,000 dearer than the spoke wheel variant.
Suzuki SlingShot, first impressions:
The looks of the SlingShot is not going down well with most on the internet. According to me it is the headlamp that is not gelling with an otherwise decent design.
The 8-9 Ps of peak power seems to be a bit low for a 125 cc bike, also front disc brakes don't seem to feature even in the options list.
But then this motorcycle seemed to be aimed at the economy seeking crowd rather than the thrill seeking dudes. Well.. in that case, the name "SlingShot" could have been reserved for something more appropriate.

What suzuki got by launching this bike? Even older super splendor looks and performs better (Atleast on paper). Then honda shine and bajaj p135 are miles ahead...
Its front end looks like something is missing (fairing?) and back reminds me tvs centra... just like uncompleted design.
This bike will not brings too many takers for suzuki. They should do something real genuine work...

WoW! Suzuki should fire the designer of this bike immediately. This looks like an overgrown moped.
Seriously looks like a cheap bike.
Rather buy a Discover 150CC, than this ****!
