6 Garware Motors to bring Hyosung GT650 to India..!!

It seems like models from the Korean two wheeler maker Hyosung, are about to re-enter India..

Hyosung GT650R India bound..??

Garware Motors to bring in the Hyosung GT650R to India..??

Remember the Kinetic-Hyosung "Comet 250" and "Aquila 250"? Those were the first twin cylinder, 250 cc bikes to enter India in the early-mid 2000's thanks to the "Kinetic + Hyosung" alliance.

Kinetic Hyosung Comet 250

The Comet and the Aquila were imported in limited numbers and sold on special booking. I remember reading that Kinetic had managed to sell a couple of hundreds of both models in India. It was purely a brand building exercise for Kinetic.

But with Kinetic's dwindling fortune, it seemed that Hyosung models had seen the last of its days in India.

Then suddenly out of nowhere Bike India magazine (in its August 2010 Issue) announced on its cover page that Hyosung was about to re enter India, and this time with 650 cc models, the full faired GT650R and the ST7 cruiser..!!

It looks like Bike India's story does have some substance in it. Today morning I happened to stumble on a site www.GarwareMotors.com. The site looks very amateurish and is very much in its "Under Construction" stage, but it does have a flash image which says "Coming Soon" and at the bottom is an image of the Hyosung GT650R..!!

Garware Motors Site

A quick google search on "Garware" landed me on a couple of sites on enterprises as varied as "Polyester" to "Pipes and Ropes". Although I am still not very sure of the new entity "Garware Motors" but looks like Hyosung has found an Indian partner to bring its models to India, once again..!!

A look at the GT650R and the prospect of owing a 650 cc, Twin Cylinder, Liquid Coled, Fuel Injected bike which makes 80 Ps of Peak Power.. would be sufficient for many to forget that they have never heard of a "Garware Motors" till now..!! At least initially.

Bring it on Hyosung..!!

what makes Hyosung so confident to sell these large engine in India?
and..is it common to see >250cc bikes rolling on the street there?

@Benny,

250 cc motorcycles are not that common on Indian streets yet, but there does exist a big gap both in terms of engine cc and also price, between the Ninja 250R and the other 1000 cc imported big bikes in India.

The Hyosung 650R can fill that gap quite nicely.. but yes, one cannot expect the sales to be in big numbers.

Also a lot will depend on how the Hyosung models are priced and the after sales service and support.

Getting parts for the 250 cc Comet can be a real issue.. buying a bike which was launched in limited numbers in India will always come with its risks.

I am not sure if Garware Motors can help you source parts but try getting in touch with them. Their contacts can be found on their website.
