Aug 2010 sales numbers of our Indian 2 wheeler manufacturers..

Bajaj and TVS clock their best ever monthly sales numbers.. Hero Honda sales remains flat.

Also worth noting is that Mahindra 2 Wheelers are almost at a sniffing distance from Suzuki Motorcycles India. Wow! This is indeed quite fast for a new brand.



Note:

1. The monthly sales figures include domestic sales as well as exports.

2. It also includes sales of all types of 2 wheelers (Motorcycles, Scooters, Mopeds etc.)



Hero Honda sold 424,617 units in August 2010 (Up by 2% over last year)

Hero HondaThe country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda on Wednesday reported a jump of 2.28 per cent in its sales at 424,617 units in August 2010.

The company had sold 415,137 units in the corresponding month last year, Hero Honda said in a statement.

Besides, for the 4th consecutive time the company has recorded more than four lakh dispatch sales in a single month.




Bajaj Auto sold 298,176 units of two-wheelers in August 2010 (Up by 59% over last year)

Bajaj Auto Ltd.Bajaj Auto's motor-cycles sales in August witnessed a 59 per cent increase at 298,176 units, compared to 182,441 units in the year ago-period, it said.

The company has sold the highest number of its Pulsar and Discover bikes last month, it added.

The company's three-wheeler sales in August 2010, stood at 40,188 units, up 34 per cent over 30,021 units of the same month in 2009.

Bajaj Auto said exports of both its two-and-three-wheelers during the month rose 31 per cent at 98,578 units, as against 75,164 units in the same month in 2009.



TVS Motor sold 167,109 units of two-wheelers in August 2010 (Up by 32% over last year)

TVS MotorsTVS Motor's two-wheeler sales in last month witnessed a 31.75 per cent increase at 167,109 units compared to 126,842 units in the same month last year, it added.

Motorcycle sales of the company during the last month rose by 30.21 per cent to 66,574 units from 51,127 units in the year-ago period, it said.

The domestic two-wheeler sales in August 2010 stood at 148,081 units, up 28.66 per cent over 115,095 units in the same month in 2009.

The company said its exports of two-wheelers during the month rose by 61.98 per cent at 19,028 units as against 11,747 units in August 2009.



Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has sold 132,330 units of two-wheelers in August 2010 (up by 38% over last year)

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters IndiaTwo-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported a 37.63 per cent growth in sales to 132,330 units in August, 2010.

The company's total sales stood at 96,149 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, HMSI said in a statement.

Motorcycle sales jumped 52.69 per cent to 56,659 units in August this year from 37,108 units in August 2009, it added.

The company also reported an increase of 28.17 per cent in scooter sales to 75,671 units last month, compared to 59,041 units in the corresponding period a year ago.




Yamaha India sold 30,450 units of two-wheelers in August 2010 (Up by 32% over last year)

Yamaha IndiaTwo-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today reported a 29.76 per cent increase in total sales at 30,450 units in August.

The company had sold 23,466 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.

The domestic sales rose by 16.22 per cent to 22,672 units in August 2010 from 19,508 units in the same month last year, it added.

During last month, the company exported 7,778 units as against 3,958 units in the year-ago period, a jump of 96.51 per cent.



Suzuki Motorcycle India has sold 19,314 units of two-wheelers in August 2010 (Up by 51% over last year)

Suzuki Motorcycle IndiaTwo-wheeler maker Suzuki Motorcycle India today reported a 50.78 per cent growth in sales for August at 19,314 units compared to 12,809 units in the same month last year.

"We believe in bringing 'Value' to our customers and we have proven so with our products. We will continue to keep up this growth momentum in future," Suzuki Motorcycle India Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Atul Gupta said in a statement.




Mahindra 2 Wheelers has sold 15,165 units of two-wheelers in August 2010 (Up by 379% over last year)

Mahindra 2 WheelersMahindra & Mahindra today reported nearly four-fold jump in its two-wheeler sales at 15,165 units in August.

The company had sold 4,005 units of scooters during the corresponding month last year, Mahindra & Mahindra said in a statement.

"Consumers have laid their trust in brand Mahindra, which has helped us grow more than 75 per cent in the last four months... Just a couple of months ago, we crossed a landmark figure of 1,00,000 units," Mahindra & Mahindra Scooter Sector President Anoop Mathur said.
