100 Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler: Complete Review

I finally get to test ride the 150 cc, Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler..

After launching commuter friendly but stylish 125 cc (CBF Stunner) and 110 cc (Twister) motorcycles, Honda finally gives us a new 150 cc motorcycle with promise of more style, power and more features in the form of the new CB Unicorn Dazzler.

Why does the name "Unicorn" feature on the new bike? Well, the engine of the Dazzler is based on the same 149.1 cc engine of the Unicorn, albeit with high lift cams and tuned to deliver slightly better power. The result is a slightly more powerful (14 bhp comared to the 13.3 bhp of the Unicorn) engine.

Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler Review

The new engine also makes its maximum power and torque at higher rpms (8500 rpm and 6500 rpm) compared to the Unicorn engine (8000 rpm and 5500 rpm).

The Dazzler also weighs 8 kgs lesser than the Unicorn.

As a result of comparitively lesser weight and more power, the power to weight ratio of the bike is more than that of the Unicorn. Coupled with a more rev happy engine, the CB Unicorn Dazzler promises to be an exciting ride, at least on paper.

I finally get to test ride the Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler. So am I impressed?

What’s new on the CB Unicorn Dazzler?

I don’t have a V-box to provide 0-60 kmph and 0-100 kmph timings..

..but I can tell you that the Dazzler did reach 105 kmph (on the speedo) with ease..!!

  • A rear disc brake as a standard feature

  • Digital speedometer display (a first for a Honda bike in India) which also has a digital clock

  • Tubeless tyres (on both wheels as a standard feature)

  • A maintenance free battery

  • Only self start (no kick start)

Looks: "Different and Funky"

That’s how I would describe the styling of the CB Unicorn Dazzler. With the over sized tank extensions and a slim rear end, the Dazzler looks like a grown up version of the 110 cc Twister. The difference being that the Twister is sharp and edgy whereas the Dazzler has more rounded panels.

Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler Review

The quality and fit and finish of the parts on the CB Dazzler are of high order. The rear and side panels are made up of a combination matt black and painted plastic panels. Even the seat has a dual tone finish to it.

Looks Likes:

+ Quality of parts, fit and finish

+ 17 inch wheels with 110 section rear tyre

Looks Dislikes:

- Styling remains a bit fuzzy to me

The Dazzler rides on 17 inch wheels, unlike the CB Unicorn which has 18 inch wheels. The smaller wheels accentuate the space between the rear portion of the bike and highlighting the monoshock rear suspension of the Dazzler. The rear has a healthy 110 section rear tyre which adds to the good looks.

The best angle is definitely the front three quarters from where the Dazzler looks meaty thanks to the over sized tank extensions. Look from the side and especially the rear, the Dazzler appears slimmer. The rider wouldn’t be aware that the bike looks slim from the rear but others can see it from behind.

After the conservtively styled Unicorn and the Shine, Honda has definitely tried hard to differentiate the CB Unicorn Dazzler with its styling. But I am actually confused on how to describe the styling of the Dazzler. It is certainly not as muscular as the Yamaha FZ, certainly not as balanced in proportions as the Pulsar’s and the Apache RTR’s.

Different and Funky is what I can best describe the Dazzler.

Engine Performance: "Sportier than the Unicorn"

Post the test ride, I can say that the engine is the best thing about this new bike. The engine on the Dazzler is more eager to rev and doesn’t feel out of breath even at around 8000 rpm. This gives a very sporty feel whenever one twists the accelerator and holds it to the redline.

Engine Performance Likes:

+ Revvy engine compared to the CB Unicorn

Engine Performance Dislkes:

- Slight loss of refinement compared to the CB Unicorn

The Unicorn has always had a smooth end reliable engine but it was tuned more for delivering good initial and mid range torque. On the Dazzler, even though the initial torque doesn't kick in with the kind of urgency as on the Unicorn, the torque and power is now spread in more linear manner over a wider rpm range.

During the test ride, I it felt that compared to the Unicorn, the Dazzler loses slightly in the refinement department. But to its credit, the vibes do not amplify as the revs rise, which makes the engine of the Dazzler feel unstressed and composed at higher engine revs.

I don’t have a V-box to provide 0-60 kmph and 0-100 kmph timings, but I can tell you that the Dazzler did reach 105 kmph (on the speedo) with ease. I am sure that with an open stretch of road, the top speed can even reach higher.

Gearbox and clutch: "Prefect..!!"

Perfect..!! That’s what I’ll state about the gearbox and clutch. Some might not approve of the absence of a heel shifter (the Dazzler has just a toe only gear shifter), but then you can’t satisfy all, can you?

Ergonomics and Ride Comfort: "Commuterish posture but slightly firm ride"

The foot pegs on the Dazzler is slightly rear set which is comfortable yet sporty. But the same cannot be said about the handlebar riding position. The handlebar is tall and feels like taken directly from a "Pukka" commuter bike. The straight riding position is great for riding in congested traffic but it fails providing the sporty and involved feeling.

During the test ride I found the ride quality to be slightly on the firmer side. I could even feel the small imperfections of the road. Not exactly back pampering I would say but the firm ride certainly translates into good handling characteristics.

Handling and Stability: "The tall handlebars come in the way of an otherwise sporty package"

The slightly firm suspension coupled with a lighter bike (8 kgs lesser than the Unicorn) makes the Dazzler a nimble handler in traffic and good around corners as well. Even at speeds of 100 plus kmph the Dazzler was rock solid.

With such a sporty suspension set up you would soon want to stick your knee out to play "Rossi Bhaiya" around the corners.. and exactly this is the time when the tall handlebars spoil the fun.

The tall handlebars do not allow you to transfer your weight to the front wheels robbing you of the thrill to act like a "Desi" Moto GP star.

Regarding the brakes, the rear disc brake along with the front disc provide a good braking feel. Nothing to complain about it.

Fuel Efficiency: According to Autocar Show of UTVI channel the fuel efficiency of the Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler is around the 50-51 kmpl mark.

Verdict: Am I impressed by the CB Unicorn Dazzler?

At Rs. 71,000 (On road Pune), the CB Unicron Dazzler might seem a bit costly than other 150 cc bikes. But with standard features like a rear disc brake and tubeless tyres, the price is actually justified. Plus with the eager engine and nimble and stable handing, I am definitely impressed.

I just wish the handlebars were placed a bit lower and the styling was a bit more focussed.

Hi Taufik,

the brakes did not give me any nervous moments, the braking was stable and progressive. No issues with it

I recently bought this amazing bike. I think now it is ready to take on other 150 bikes in the fray & though it is a bit expensive, I feel Honda has justified it with rear disc brake & slightly higher power. Overall it has a good engine, look & better ride quality....This bike rocks...:-)

I also wish the same thing. Back in 2007 I test rode the Unicorn and I was so impressed by the butter smooth gear shift and the silent yet powerful engine. But the only down side was its seating posture and not so contemporary styling. It is so sad that Honda retained the same seating posture for the sporty version of its predecessor.

Great review, Payeng!

Thanks Satdal Sir,
I brought this bike about month ago, and my feelings are same as urs. Thanks for ur forward and realistic review. (because some blogs are trying hard to misdirect peoples by showing this bike is not at par of unicorn. may u know else!!!)t
But I have some point to notice:
1. As their is no full chain cover, chain sounds more while running.
2. Engine sounds (comparitively) more than unicorn. May be due to more powerfull engine.
3. Rear disk brakes sounds while running.
4. Headlight focus strength rises and fall with engine rpm. Not as constant as pulsar does. BTW, Honda should apply for more powerful headlight.

As all bikes have + and -, we cant get all perfect bike. But this bike is above good.

Thanks.
Gautam.

Great review.

I differ on one section of your review - LOOKS. It isn't just lack of focus on Honda's part. If you notice Honda has introduced a lot of edges - in the front fairing, in the tank extensions, at the rear - and even then it doesn't look edgy. Our eyes have not even become familiar with the styling and yet the bike loses the 'edge'. Rather, it looks stubby from the from the front to say the least.

Keep writing. :)

Payeng said...

@Siddharth, maybe its the FZ effect..

after that bike, the expectation from a "new" design has been risen quite high :-)

@ Gautam, congrats on your purchase

You have rightly pointed out, every bike will have its "+ves" and "-ves". After a stage, its our point of view.

Payeng said...

Hi Christian,

For that you will have to inquire about it with your local shops/service centers who does such modifications.

I would not suggest clip ons, but there should be a possibility of slightly fitting lower handlebars.

Best of luck

Hi everone,
Dazzler is good bike but it comes without kick start.I want to know whether self starting system of bike face problem in early mornings in winter.I saw problems in self.. system in activa and other gearless vehicles.I don't have any experience about self system of bike.

After so much hype about Dazzler, the dazzler fails to be a proper sporty bike for youngsters because of ordinary handlebar, no clip-on handle. It has straight seat posture, not foward-lean sporty posture. Also, no linkage in toe lever, it is just half lever. Apache, cbzx, fz16, gs150, all have linkage gear lever. Linkage are those extra metal rods connected to gear lever.

Dazzler is also not a proper commuter bike for family/executives because of half chain case and no kickstart. Dazzler is not silent like old unicorn. Now the dazzler sound is louder and sounds similar to suzuki Gs150r.

Half chain case might look sporty, but it is unsafe for pillion rider, especially females and kids. During rains, half chain case will result in dirty clothes. Due to dust accumulation, chain and sprocket will not be smooth and wear out faster. Price is too high for this bike without kickstart and without clipon handles. Clip-on handles/ordinary handles and half/full chain case should be made optional for customers.

Also, there is no engine balancer and no 6th gear overdrive. Digital speedometer is available in all bikes. Old unicorn had bigger 18-inch wheels, dazzler has smaller 17-inch wheels. Only plus point in dazzler is rear disc, but we pay 4k extra than other bikes for this.

Overall, dazzler is a smaller and costlier baby unicorn which is not proper sporty bike and also not a proper family/executive bike.

Payeng said...

@Ishan,

There are many models in the market with self start only.

Eg: Pulsar 180 DTS-i, Pulsar 220 DTS-i, Hero Honda Karizma ZMR, Yamaha R15, Yamaha FZ16, Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Honda CBF Stunner PGM-Fi and now the Honda Dazzler.

Dazzler is not the first bike to get the electric start only features. Take good care of your battery and everything should be ok.

Cars feature electric start only, don't they?

Unknown said...

To Payeng,
thank you very much for your answer.CBZ,Hunk, pulsar 150,gs 150R, are without- tubless tyres,MF battery, rear disk brakes.apache RTR-180 is little costley then the dazzler.looks aren't 100% perfet for me but the features are very good.I'm thinking to buy this bike since it is honda and I don't see features like this in others at this price.

To my understanding all those bikes have rearset foot pegs except for Unicorn. Do to which the linkage is provided. Apart from that what is the real purpose of the linkage?

Unicorn's half shifter does the same job with butter smooth results... a'int it?

I think that’s a good bike but still not satisfied with looks. as i have taken its test drive. Honda should improve its bike’s structure more like “ducatti”.

Engine Stop OFF/ON Button should also be a Standard Feature.....

How come one of your rear view mirrors is facing right way up to the sky?

Payeng said...

@Santosh, nice observation.

The test ride was done in a closed area, so attention wasn't paid to the setting of the rear view mirror.

Hi
I'm planing to buy dazzler but,I saw in one review that rear disk is not effective in rain while riding with 2 people.IF IT IS TRUE in all cases then,
(i)it will create question about safty of bike.
(ii)similar can happen with HH K ZMR,RTR 180,PLS 220.
I don't have any experience of disk brakes.Confused!

Payeng said...

@Ishan,

Disc brakes are always better compared to drum brakes. Apart from being more effective in braking, Disc brakes are also maintenance free (you don't have to adjust for slack and free play).

if you are new to Disc brakes a few days of riding practice will set everything fine.

hi,

Does having only button start and no kick start give any problem in long term.......does button gets jammed or any thing like that.....and having only button start to the bike give any issue during winter.....when mostly bikes gets little time to start up as its grow older........i want to buy this bike and keep it for a long term.......and it also has a open chain......as there is no cover on the chain does chain durability decreases.......as there will be lots of mud sticking to the chain........

and whos maintaince will be less....cb unicorn or dazzler.....

Also let me know if cb unicorn is better option than dazzler for a long term use....

please advice.....your advice will be very precious to me.....

Payeng said...

@Manvendra, these days there are quite a few bikes with self/button start only. All one has to make sure is that the battery is in a healthy state and not discharged.

Even cars have self start only, right?

These days manufacturers prove "O" ring sealed chains with bikes which have half chain covers, so that the chain is lubricated for a longer duration. But if your bike has an open chain, its allways wise to clean/lubricate the chain at regular period.

Hi,
Finaly i bought this bike(black one). For me it looks realy good than the images.I desided to go for it because of milege & performance(& in my collage,FZ & Pulsars are common). 100 kms done and i'm fully satisfied. Its a great bike.I feel that its a very good combination of sport+commuter.
Few things i have noted,
(1)The breaks are absolutley perfect and powerfull.
(2)I don't feel any vibs. till 50km/hr(my max. speed).
(3)Gear shifting is very smooth and engine sounds very decent(i feel same as cbz x & hunk).
(4)Pickup is exelent.[I saw in the video review of bloomberg/UTV,where they calculated acceleration of dazzler (0-60 km/hr) that is 5.19 sec with stopping distance 17.3 meters in 2.13 sec(stopping time) & pickup of YAMAHA FZ-S a was 5.59 sec(0-60) with 14.89 meters stopping distance in 1.77 sec.] (5)Blue digi. console with analouge techometer looks realy good(specialy at night).
(6)Milege not calculated perfectly but surley 50+.
(7)Chain sounds little while riding(i think same thing for other half chain case or open chain bikes).
I desided not go for FZ-S because of (1)low fuel economy(around 40).(2)Dazzler comes with rear disk break & viscous paper filter(i.e. low maintenence cost) and MF battery.(3)I don't like FZ's rear tiny seat.(4) R.s.2-3k extra(for Fz-S) than dazzler(in vadodara).(5)As in a review,it is little difficult to read the digi. techo.(of FZ) in sunlight.
This is my own opinion based on experience & what i saw in other reviews. The only style and looks, for which the liking differs from person to person but for me it realy looks like dazzling unicorn.

Hi,

I am confused on to buy unicorn or dazzler. I want a reliable machine which is good in comfort and handling. I was more towards buying unicorn since I wanted a executive conservative bike. But I heard there has been a long waiting period for delivery of unicorn after booking in Tamil Nadu (around 3-4 months). This raises some questions:

1) Does that mean Honda is scraping the old unicorn and stop it's production?
2) How is the service network of Honda? Are they consumer friendly?

hi,

I need suggestion for a motorbike that can manage the following :

- Travel 30-130+ Kms a day. (No traffic, so travel time is less)
- Uphill roads, so 150cc engine would be good
- Bad bumpy forest roads and good pitched road as well, so the shock absorbers have to be really good.
- Rains heavily for almost 4 months. So it should be able to manage the heavy muddy/slippery road.
- If the tire punchers, then walk with the bike or leave the bike and walk.So tubeless tire or atleast tuff up tube.
- Mileage is another important factor, for the long distance traveled regularly and also petrol pump is far away (minimum distance - 45 Kms)
- Lastly service center(any bike)is far away(min distance - 45 kms)
(All the above conditions are non negotiable)
Any need to mention that if the seat and riding posture is little bit comfortable, then it would be great. (Pillion rider accompanies occasionally), and also if the headlight is little bit on the brighter side then better, as there is no street light, and occasionally not so friendly wild animals manage road traffic at night.

I do live and work in a remote area.

Unknown said...

You can go for dazzler, i have completed 1000kms and it is good bike...gives 55km mileage (less traffic conditions). Visit http://www.honda2wheelersindia.com/dazzler/index.html for features and spec. In your conditions...
(1) abt travel, i'm 5.8 tall and very comfortable for me. In initial time, bike vibrates little above 50km speed (my case) but after 1000km it (vibs) reduces abt 60%.
(2) it has mono suspension...good comfort.
(3) dazzler has MRF Zapper C rear wider tire...excellent gripping. Also rear disk brake provide excellent braking (no skidding at all) even in rain, in my case mostly without pillion, though it does not gave me any nervous moments with pillion (in rain).
(4) Good mileage...above 50 in city. seating position for pillion is appropriate.
(5) Light distribution of lower light is very good, though light is varying according engine rpm...but still no hint of any dissatisfaction.
I'm telling you abt dazzler coz i have EXPERIENCE of it.
Others...don't know perfectly.

Hi Just about to buy Uni Daz. Everyone overlook Gear Lever. When you raise it from below, there is a danger of SHOE LACE hooking at the lever. This is a very serious design defect. I would say criminal negligence of Honda's design engineers. I would be pleased to shell out more on it if it had an oil cooled engine.

The bike is good. The mileage and pickup and excellent styling is there. but there is no kick. The battery is not so good that it will break down if the bike usually runs with a small distance (1 or 2 kms). I've bought it 0n july. the battery came down in september. I recharged it.But now it has gone. there is no exchange also. i've to buy the new one. this is the problem. if the bike has the kick I think this problem will not exist.

Hi all..i have bought uni dazzler on May 31st…Completed my 6 months and it has crossed 4500kms…Only one word i can say is Awesome or excellent or great….now i m feeling the slogan of Honda “I Enjoy the Quality”it has very smooth engine with comfort riding…. its definitely a gud upgraded package than old unicorn…the wider rear tyre, sexy digi console, power increment and tubeless tyre gives u a pleasant driving and sporty look…paying just 4000 bucks extra u get thise upgrades than older Uni which is good value for money thing… In City riding i acheived mileage of 52…Depends on driving style..but it gives around 50-55 kmpl in city riding conditons…In top speed(60 – 70kmph)also bike doesnt makes noise and vibes..feels like flying….only doubt is it doesnt have kick start..oly elec start..i ve doubted and scared while hearing first..after enquiring dealr he said ..it comes wit MF battery and sure ther will be no prob for 4-5 years in battery….gear shift is really smooth and easy….braking is excellent…one more thing i like to clarify is here i seen in several posts that rear disk is risky and tough for fresh new first time riders…But the truth is rear disc is not powerfula s front one…i’ve felt rear dis is some wat 20 -30% sharper than drum brake…but ther is no question of riskiness in rear discs….on the whole its a sporty commuter,…..i m very much satisfied…it simply overtook old uni in all aspects…while comparing to

pulsar(Poor performance and engine and no comfort..only style) and
gs(rust prob and relaiablity of engine) and
fz(Better and good style – but fails in mileage and high price)..

Dazzler is better in all aspects…but it can beat the style of fz..but in performance and specs wise it has comparitively better than above 3…so guys go for it and Have a enjoyable riding…

Some Issues i faced in my 4500 kms of journey wit my Machine
1.Sometimes i face this..not all the times..wen i m driving in 5th gear it automatically shifts to 4th gear...
2.In Winter season have to use choke for starting...
3.My Clutch cable has got cut aftr 20 days of purchase and they have replaced me for free of cost..
4. Engine gets very heated after some 10 to 15 mins of drive for first 2 months.... now its ok...heat reduced...5.the vibrations i hav faced it in initial stages...but now if i go at 70kms also no vibs and gearshift is so smooth like slicing the butter or boiled egg

Tips for Good maintanence of Dazzler :-

1. Do timely service

2.Jus lubricate u r chain 10 days once..it will b gud..This is Important.

3. For Better braking u shud apply both front and rear if you go beyond 40 kmph

4. For Good Mileage .. Daily Morning after starting the bike leave the bike in Idle engine running condition of 1500 rpm..It allows Engine oil to flow through all parts of Engine fully..Start riding after doing this.. Dont Use Clutch Frequently..Use it wisely..

5.Each and Everytime u giv for Service jus tell the service person to check the MF Battery health and Recharge it fully for avoiding Battery related problems..This is very important since u hav to rely only on elec start...

6.After your free services get over - Dont go for Honda service after that...Prefer your Good Local mechanic..BCos honda service mechanics are not so good.

From my Experience i hav crossed 4500kms...it got very smooth..........its like grape wine man...as days pass it will taste gr8...sure u will feel aftr crossing 3000kms....Dont Read my review and take decisions...U Jus go to the showroom..test ride the Dazzler ..andd u urself will feel the difference from other bikes...Take a wise decision..

if any issues or queries mail me to sun_vijay2003@yahoo.co.in or sundar3030@gmail.com…bye..

Dazzler has a 4AH battery. can it give a powerful light and starting?
please respond?

antonysg said...

Cars have only selfstart, but cars have powerful 30 Ah to 100 Ah battery. Removing kicker in dazzler and giving low-power 4 Ah battery is ridiculous. Old unicorn has 7 Ah battery, though it doesnt have digital meter.

Dazzler uses same 4 Ah battery for digital meter, selfstart, indicators, and brake light. Obviously, if you dont use for 10 days, the battery will become weak and you may have selfstart problem, especially in cold weather or rains. They should give at least 8 Ah battery. Has anybody tried starting dazzler by putting in gear and pushing?

Yamaha is giving kicker option for SZ-R if we pay 3k extra. Can honda give same option for dazzler?

Has anyone managed to fit full chain cover on dazzler. If so, which bike's chain cover can we fit on dazzler? If we can fit the black fibre full chain cover of yamaha SZ-R on dazzler, it will be goodlooking.

The unicorn is having good looks ,mileage, pickup and so on, But important thing is comfort. The Rear suspension is very hard. I stopped using the bike due to its rough ride, my other family members who are riding the Dazzler were getting back pain. I have no other choice other than to sell the bike immediately

I think Unicorn Dazzler is purely SPORTS BIKE.All sports bikes will not have Full chain case , Kick starter and it will have single side gearlever(like olden day bikes). Sports bikes will have broader rear tyres and reduced weight (when compared to unicorn),with Hard Rear Shock absorber.Dazzler has 4 amp battery probably to reduce weight.Racing bikes will not use self starter often.

Anonymous above commented : "One more thing we can start dazzler without self . :)" Is it true or just a mock post ....If it is true please share it , it comes very handy in the nick of time..

If self-start fails, then you have to jump-start the bike. This is how race bikes are started by jump-start. Racers sit on bike and they have other people to push the bike for them.

For us, easy way is to find a road slope, sit on bike, put bike in second gear, depress clutch, push bike down slope with feet, when you gain speed, release the clutch. If there is no slope nearby, then its is problem, as you have to put more effort to push.

We are all not racers and we dont have people to push for us, so having a kicker is better option. Yes cars have only self-start but cars have very powerful battery of 30 Ah to 100 Ah.

Anyway, good news is Yamaha is giving kicker on Fz. Will honda give dazzler kicker ?

Has anybody managed to fit a kicker on dazzler? Has anyone managed to fit full chain cover on dazzler?

which is the better choice?? honda unicorn dazzler, yamaha fz-s or hero honda hunk new

Anonymous said...

Honda has given rear-set footpegs and gear lever connecting rods in its version of dazzler in China called RR150 and CBF150SF. This rear-set footpegs give better riding posture and is more comfortable.

Why honda has not given rear-set footpegs and gear lever connecting rods in dazzler in india?? Honda is cheating Indian customers. Dazzler seating posture is really stupid.

Only Apache and R15 have both rear-set footpegs and also forward-lean seating posture, which is meant for race track and not good for long rides.

FZS, SZ-R, CBZx, Hunk, Gs150r, Pulsar180 all have slightly rear-set footpegs and connecting rods to gear lever for more comfortable riding posture.

Only lower-price splendor, passion, and discover and also costlier unicorn and dazzler dont have rear-set footpegs. Honda takes more money but does not give good features in its bikes.

new dazzler bike has following issues....

* Front suspension is bad, and the rear monosusoepension is worst, i doubt whether it works while vehicle is running.
* Engine pick up is dead slow,(TVS XL super is better than this),
* Engine struggle to go beyond 55 kmph..
* gear shift is also not smooth as unicorn,
* engine makes more noise than unicorn,
* no comfort while driving,
* disc brakes are making noise,
* front disc is not as smooth as pulsar,
* vehicle is not stable when the speed is > 55 kmph or 4500 rpm

"Please, please, please" don't burn your pocket & regret in future as i did...

I am joginder from delhi, dazzler is a ultimate bike ,no one can challenge it in 150 seg. my run 100 kms daily on NH-1. I love speed , my dazzler touch 120,without fear because of it has both disc breakes. Smooth/comfertable riding. I ride it 10000 kms/four services till now without any complaint, mileage is 60 kmpl at the speed upto 65. I have enfield bullet , pulsar , hunk ,only dazzler make me happy after bullet.

All people dont get misled. Showroom people say cars have only selfstart and no kicker, right??

Yes cars have only selfstart, but cars have powerful 30 Ah to 100 Ah battery. Dazzler has only lower power 4 Ah battery.

Also, cars have fuel injection, not carburetor. Dazzler has carburetor, not fuel injection.

R15 also has no kickstart, but R15 has fuel-injection. Fuel-injection bike will start more easily; so no kickstart required. But for carburetor bike like dazzler, kicker is wanted. Now, even FZ-S has kicker.

Anonymous said...

Dazzler production has stopped. Why nobody knows. Dazzler is not available in showroom since Aug 2011. They say next batch in 2012. Hope new batch gets kicker. Yamaha FZ-S has kicker now.

AND WHAT IS MOTOMAN STUFF ITS SAID U CAN GET MORE POWER WITHOUT ANY LOSS EVEN IF U DONT FOLLOW THE RUNNING IN GUIDE
HOW TO TREAT THE BIKE TO GET MAXIMUM OF IT AND HAVE BETTER STUFF THEN THE SAME BIKE OWNER'S DO

Only issus s der is no kicker, some tims somone feel some stuggle

Cars have only selfstart, but cars have powerful battery of 30 to 100 Ah. Also, cars have fuel-injection, so selfstart is reliable.

R15 has no kicker, but R15 has fuel-injection, not carburetor.

Bigger bikes have no kicker, but have fuel-injection, not carburetor.

Dazzler has no kicker, but dazzler has carburetor, not fuel injection. Carburetor bike should have kicker.

Honda and Hero removing kicker to make more profit, but in long run only customer suffers.

Even Fz has kicker now.

Friends,
I am planning to buy a Honda ride, preferably CB Unicorn but the booking period is ONE YEAR or minumum 10 months. Dazzler has one month booking period. So I have decided to go for it.

From the above comments it seems, in general, the major issues are:

1. Trouble in cold start without manual cranking(kicker) someone has to use choke every morning. Also the 4 Ampere-hour battery.

2. Gear shifting smoothness is not good enough- one person even has problems with the gear automatically jumping from 5 to 4.

3. Chain makes a little noise.

Also there was a comment saying the engine gets heated up in 10-15 minutes of first two months of use.
And one or two comments about sound from rear disc.
Another review says, the comfort is bad, in-spite of smooth engine and suspension, because of the stiff seats.
Low pick-up (Better mileage comes at the cost of low pick-up)

Any machine will have some issues-
so it could be bearable to have varying headlight intensity, a one piece handle bar instead of clip-on handle bars.

I personally believe, Honda is the most reliable. So I am planning to book Dazzler because I cant wait for a year and take CB Unocorn on the road.

Also I have owned (my dad bought actually) Pulsar 150 old and new and Pulsar 180, the best for style and looks. I have ridden Yamaha FZ and R15 which are the best for maneuvering.
Now I am buying one on my own, so I would like to choose reliability over anything else and hope i will be using it for 5+ years.

Do comment if anyone has any suggestion.

Hari,

Dad buys the sporty Pulsar (not just one but 2 pulsars!!) and son opts for the conservative Honda Dazzler. what a joke!!

the above is nothing but a "negative PR for bajaj and yamaha". try misleading guys somewhere else "hari"!!!

self start not working properly, we have to use choke always

Anonymous said...

for Rs. 77000 is it justifiable , w/o kicker and mor powerful battery.
You see starting trouble is the main problem.

hi thanx for ur full deail .i m about to buy dazzler but wanna know that is there any other method to start the bike if self start system fails.....if dre is some method then plz tell me ,for me ignition system is heighly concerned....!!!!

To all those bothered by the absence of the kick starter, relax.. there are a few bikes in India which comes without kick starters:

Eg. Pulsar 180, Pulsar 220, CBF Stunner, Xtreme and Hunk (among the carbureted).. also almost all Fuel Injected bikes in India come without self starters (Ninja 250, CBR250R, R15, Karizma ZMR, CBF Stunner PGM-Fi).

The Electric starter on modern bikes are reliable enough to work without kick starters.. just keep the battery charged and one should be ok on these bikes.

Dear friends,
I'm having problems with the bike,
1) a rattling noise in engine after driving it for about 20 kilometers(or after a long drive when the bike gets very hot).At this time, the accelerator becomes very loose and you'll feel that the bike is not responding to throttle properly.
Service people say it is tappet noise and it is very common in all bikes. He also says that even if he adjusts it, it'll not go away and will continue to make noise like that only. Is it true? (I've read in internet forums that the tappet should be adjusted considering its maximum operating temperatures in mind) (but how on earth will i explain it to these amateur & unprofessional service people) Shed some light friends please! . Has anyone had this problem and got it rectified after service?????

2) SUSPENSION is very hard! Even after keeping in soft mode adjustment! :-( First of all,i have backache Atleast from 3 years, and due to this suspension, its painful for me to ride it. I can feel even the smallest (seriously! Very small) bumps and pothole. It is directly hitting my back back and doesn't make me feel good at all! (I read it here that Mr.Narayanamurthy is trying to modify or tweak his rear suspension. Has it been fruitful???) Please help! Suggestions gratefully accepted!

3)I heard many people say its gear shift is very smooth, but I've had bad experiences. The gears 1, N & 2 don't shift properly as it was when the bike was new. Too many false neutrals, and sometimes the gear feels like its dead (freely moving but not shifting). I've told it to the service person, he again says this is very common in all bikes! (Then why the **** did I buy a Honda for? ) .

I've done only 430kms, and it is showing so many problems. will any of these problems vanish after i do more kms?

Finally concluding, I ask you DAZZLER OWNERS, whether you have/had these problems in your bike?
If yes,Did you find a solution to it?

I'm feeling very let down after investing such huge money on this bike!
DEPRESSED:-(
Please help! :-(

Guys, I am a biker for past 15 years, all the time on my 95 Yamaha RX 100. I am looking to buy a new bike now and considering Honda Dazzler. How is the back shocks for Dazzler? I need a comfortable one, not a hard suspension setup. Current users of Dazzler, can you comment please?

Anonymous said...

They make a good design incorporating all that is expected out of a two wheel machine and at the end leave the whole thing to chances for the sake of eliminating an important item, the kick start.
A daily use motorbike without kick start is only a waste. As the time travels the users will be facing problems mostly associated with starting electrically and this will be an item where only an expert can find a solution.
Even a brand new Dazzler has starting problems.
Honda, why don'you introduce kick start in dazzler? It would boost up your sales revenue. Plz don't try to drill a whole on the crank case and introduce a gear shaft and the kicker. Bring out a new variant! Charge more.

I own this bike too, bought this couple of months back.Only issues i am facing after running 800 kms is , i am getting sound from real disc while applying the break.
Any suggestion how to fix this , or this is common in this type of Bike .
Appreciate the quick suggestion as eagerly waiting for a quick fix , as i spend 83k for this bike .
Over all performance is very satisfying.
This a best choice in comparison to Pulsar 150 and TVS Apache .
