5 January 2010, 2 Wheeler sales in India

January 2010 sales numbers of our 2 wheeler makers..

In sharp contrast to early 2009, most of the 2 wheeler makers in India have managed to register good sales in January 2010. Almost every manufacturer, (with the expection of Yamaha India) has shown an increase in sales. Maybe its time for Yamaha India to launch its commuter oriented SZ concept that was shown at the Auto Expo.

I just hope that this dream run continues for most of the manufacturers and that the good sales numbers also transate into some exciting models for me when its time for me to upgrade from my Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi..

In my opinion the sales figures of Yamaha India can be attributed to the fact that, Yamaha India's premium bikes are the costliest in their genre right upto the level of the mighty V-Max, and this is the situation in the presence of much much cheaper and better "Powered and Managed Power" alternatives from other manufacturers in every segement of bikes (excluding the segment of the likes of the R1, MT-01 and the V-Max)

So, it's a tradeoff.... either you pay more and go towards Race Track inspired technology... or you stick to the Indian everyday requirements and go for VFM

Out of curiousity Payeng,what would you want to upgrade to from a Pulsar 220.Is there anything in your mind?

I am hapy that finally Yamaha sales are dropping. This shows that fewer people are getting fooled now with the FZ16, FZs and Fazer. The bikes are good, but it seems Pulsar's and RTR's are finally breaking its market. History repeats itself. Remember the fate of Enticer. It had 2 months waiting initially, but with Avenger, Enticcer vanished. Hope Yamaha gets smart and actually brings in proper bikes.

@ Anil,

presently the Ninja 250R seems to fit the bill perfectly fo me.. except maybe for its 3 lakh (approx) price tag, which is still a stretch for my Indian salary.

Lets wait for sometime and see.

@Sajal,

agree with you.
