6 Royal Enfield to put its UCE (Unit Construction Engine) across all its models in 2010 + Royal Enfield @ Auto Expo 2010

Models shown at the Royal Enfield pavilion @ AutoExpo 2010.. all had UCE (Unit Contruction Engine)..

Among the models showed by Royal Enfield at the 2010 Auto Expo were a Cafe Racer Concept, Classic 500, Bullet 350, Thunderbird Twinspark and two export models viz. a Classic 500 in Military "Battle Green" Color and another in Chrome. One noticable thing was that all these models had been fitted with the UCE (Unit Construction Engine) of Royal Enfield.

A quick trip to the Royal Enfield site revealed that in 2010, all its models will get the new Unit Construction Engine.

The Classic 500/350 & the Thunderbird Twinspark models already come with the UCE engine and now even the Bullet 350 and the Electra-5S are going to get the UCE makeover.

What does it mean?

It means that the tradition Royal Enfield "Right Foot Gear Shifter" (currently present only on the Bullet 350) and the "C.I (Cast Iron) Engine" (doing its duty right now on the Bullet 350 and Electra 5-S) are going to be relegated to history books.

Well, purists will definitely be sad.. but then "Change is the only Constant"

Lovers of RE still swear by the Older Engine Version and say that the real meat of RE lies in that!!

I haven't seen many happy faces of RE owners who tried to graduate from the older engine version to UCE

i used to ride the older version. but the new UCE is smoother and has greater overtaking pick up/ acceleration. However, low end torque seems to be reduced a bit. This version mases the bullet a better highway bike. mileage is also better. All round, The Bullet UCE is a more efficient bike.
