2010 Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i Official Technical Specifications.. for both "S" & "F" variants. No Speculations..!!

The Pulsar 220 DTS-i "S" variant has made a rather silent entry into the Bajaj showrooms, infact it is reported that even the deliveries have started. Surprising there hasn't been any sort of publicity for this handsome model. But this hasn't stopped bike enthusiasts from speculating about the technical specifications/features or price about this latest Pulsar.

The P220-S DTS-i variant gets 35 watt and NOT 55 watt headlamps.

So far there has been speculations about its reduced weight and even on its performance/handling without even getting a proper test ride..!!

I managed to get hold of the owners manual of the 2010 Pulsar 220 DTS-i "S" and "F" (Yes, that's what Bajaj is calling them) variants.

This new "Fastest Indian" now also is the Made in India bike with the "Highest Power to Weight" ratio and possibily the bike with the "Best bang for your buck"..!!

Reduction is weight: The specifications show that the only difference between the "S" and "F" variants is in reduction of weight of the "S" variant over the "F" variant by 4 kgs. The 220F variant tips the scales at 152 Kgs (Kerb Weight) and the P220S variant weighs 148 Kgs (Kerb Weight). How much difference this 4 Kg weight reduction makes in the the actual performance or handling of the bike, remains to be seen. But yes, reduction in weight is definitely welcome.

Difference in headlamp wattage: There has been some speculations about the P220-S DTS-i getting 55 watt headlamps like the P220-F DTS-i variant. But the technical specifications sheet show that this is not true. The P220-S DTS-i variant gets 35 watt and NOT 55 watt headlamps.

Both the Pulsar 220 "S" and "F" come with the same power/torque output, same chassis, simlar feature list. The only visual difference are in the headlamps with the "F" variant getting the dazzling 55 watt low beam projector and compact high beam setup and the "S" variant getting the 35 watt bikini headlamp of the Pulsar 150/180.

Difference in price; The Pulsar 220-S DTS-i variant is cheaper than the Pulsar 220-F DTS-i variant by Rs. 3,000 across India.

This new "Fastest Indian" now also is the Made in India bike with the "Highest Power to Weight" ratio and possibily the bike with the "Best bang for your buck"..!!

This Pulsar 220-s will eat away whatever little sales the RTR180 has. Unbelievable value for money.

but yes, puny short riders who can't ride Pulsars would still go for the small Apache RTR bikes

Pulsars are defenitely awesome machines and are great VFM... but at the same time believe me R15 and FZ series bikes are much more than poser friendly machines. I've rode both of them extensively and over long stretches and I daily ride my P200!! All of them are equally fun in there own league. Even though R15 and FZ are not as much VFM as the Pulsars but they are awesome machines!!

A friend of mine is slightly crippled by his left leg... and FZ-16 is the only bike he's able to ride because of it's Mass Centralization and Rideability!! You don't need any better testimony to judge the capability of these bikes!!

the problem with pulsar 220 s and 220 f is the center stand. in the released position of bike the gap between center stand and road is too low. it make the problem if we turn the curves in a sporty way.the side of the center stand touching the road, it may ends with an accidient. it's a design fault of Bajaj.

Hey rachit,
The R15 and the Fz offer excellent handling so not everybpdy buys them for posing.
Pulsars sell in more numbers because they cost less and a lot of people who buy dont worry about handling.
Infact I wud suggest it is the pulsar riders who are more interested in signal to signal races - That is posing for me.

All said and done kudos to bajaj for developing such a product in such a short time.

The discussion regarding pulsars & FZ can go on and on.Both are good bikes in their own rights. i acquired my P 220F 20 days ago & I assure you that it is an absolute delight to ride. For slightly overweight guys like myself, p 220 offers great power & comfort which is missing in other bikes.P 200F rocks. But no offence, Yamahas are gr8 bikes as well & every guy should take a bike as per his taste & requirements. Just test ride & decide for yourself.

don't be confuse between fazer, it's only 153 cc engine, with bulky yamaha styling headlamp, but pulsar 220 f is no doubtly winner in this segment,best handling and styling both.

Both the F & S version has been simultaneously on sale for sometime now. Go for whichever one that you like.

Bajaj Pulsar have changed the taste of users in India and it has captured huge share of market in India.Bajaj Pulsar 220 seems to be very stylish and amazing in features and riding.I am sure this bike will also rock as other models of pulsar have done.

i thnk 220cc engine is not acceptable by a racer. i was expecting more than this. i hope pulsar would upgrade it's power. pulsar 220 is just satisfactory and about rest of the bikes, they are good for school boys but not up to the level of true bike lovers, better you give it to your gf.

dude, 220s is best bike ever made.it is the fastesest also fast from 220f. i have 220s iride both bikes. and also race with220f. 220f goes on144 and mine goes on148kmph. r15 and krizma zmr are look like toys as compared to 220s. r15's resr tyre loooooooooooks like cycle's tyreeeeeeeee.

Pulsar has changed the taste of bike riders from sober to stylish. Bajaj pulsar has captured good market share in very less period of time and this 2010 Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i will surely increase market share for Bajaj. I am sure 2010 Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i will rock.

why bajaj is making same pulsar design again and again by upgrading some features but the design is same. Pulsar 220s design is almost same to pulsar 200. Is any new design of pulsar will be launch with higher cc?

@Momo, it will not be a direct fit, you'll have to tweak the electricals of the Pulsar 220 S to be able to produce 55W..

An experienced mechanic can do the change for you though.

I have pulsar 150 cc. It's giving good millage of 42-45 if driven at a speed between 75 to 100 kmph.

But the only problem is its center stand. It collides with speed breakers and also touches road if we make a very sharp turn on the road.

It makes driving too difficult when second person sits on bike, because the stand hits each and every speed breaker and also it touches road when we make a turn even with a low speed.

putting a 120 section (Pulsar 220's) rear tyre on the Pulsar 150 will only harm the mileage, performance and handling of the bike. Stay away from such modifications

i have an inclination towards "s" but than i think the "s" version looks similar to pulsar 180cc,

while the "f" version stands out from the pulsar crowd...

You guys cant even compare pulsar220F wid al these bikes... p220F is totally desi bike... al others r outcome of collaberation of companies or they r non-desi... No other bike in India gives this type of performance, speed n pick-up wid a decent mileage like p220F... Guys i'm using a p220F n its a honour 2 own n ride such a bike... Love u pulsar220F \RGT/You guys cant even compare pulsar220F wid al these bikes... p220F is totally desi bike... al others r outcome of collaberation of companies or they r non-desi... p220 the ,meachine which changed the thoughts about indian bikes, still a lot of function offering(specially on electrical systeem sucha as headlight load detection n auto beam switcghing) by bajaj on pulsar ug4 series bikes r not available on other indian bikes. n its dual tone silencer which gives a descent sound while cruising and sporty sound while throttling is awsome. n i think i dont need to say about its performence n milage as every 1 who rode it knows it, n guys belive me its an awsome bike with awsome comfort n handling at any speed, but the problem is to feel it u better know how to ride it!!!
