22 KTM bikes for India.. Coming soon to Bajaj Probiking showrooms [RC8 Wallpaper]

A look at the KTM bikes that will grace Bajaj Probiking Showrooms soon..

KTM RC8:

The 2008 KTM RC8 [1280 X 1024 Size Wallpaper]

The KTM 1190 RC8 is the first 1000 cc Super Bike from KTM. The international launch of the RC8 is expected to happen around March.

The RC8 has a 1148cc, 8-valve, DOHC, 75-degree V-twin engine, which makes an impressive 155 horsepower and 120Nm of torque. The bike has a dry weight of 188 Kgs, sports a six-speed gearbox and Keihin's Electronic Fuel Injection.

Watch the Promotional Video of the RC8 (which gave me goose bumps) on You Tube..

The RC8 is priced at 10,695.00 GBP (Great Britain Pounds) in the U.K, which is equal to around Rs. 8,20,000. Visit the Official KTM RC8 website for more details on the RC8.

KTM Duke 690:

The 2008 KTM Duke 690

According to KTM, the Duke 690 is the most powerful street-legal "Single" cylinder bike of all time.

The Duke 690 has a single-cylinder, 654cc, liquid-cooled engine that makes 65bhp at 7500rpm. Compared to multi cylinder super sport bikes, 65 horsepower certainly doesn't sound like much. But the 690 Duke weighs just 148 kilos (as heavy as a Pulsar 220/ Karizma..!!).

The KTM 690 Duke gets a steel tube trellis frame, six-speed gearbox, and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. Top speed is around the region of 190km/h.

The Duke 690 is priced at 6,195.00 GBP (Great Britain Pounds) in the U.K, which is equivalent to Rs. 475,000. Visit the Official KTM Duke 690 site for more details

The Headlights of the Duke 690

The Front of the KTM RC8

The Duke 690 was also displayed at the Auto Expo 2008. The Bajaj guys present there told that the Duke 690 and the RC8 (which wasn't kept there for display) would be the bikes from KTM that should make it to the Bajaj Probiking Showrooms soon..

Question remains what will be the Indian Sticker Price.

But for those kind of guys who want "Exclusivity" and have deep pockets, these radically styled KTM bikes should just fit the bill perfectly for them..!!

Thru dese bikes, Bajaj z gonna sweep HH 4m market!!!!
i think the R&D dept. & Marketing Dept. are dead in HH!!!!

nice...but these would end up being 7-8L in India I guess and then will have to compete with the grey market!! Btw, off this topic, how about a post on helmets?? I have been looking for some place where I can get my helmet customized(painted etc)...any details available?? :)

seriously i never liked the styling of ktm bikes.everyone has his choice!

but even if they are coming to India, how are we going to get them.after importing these bikes to india their prices are going to be sky high.[i think there is some law that says bikes with engines more than 800cc can't be imported in CKD but have to be imported in CBU]

it is just like bringing R1 in India again.

@ankit
i think bajaj can never beat hh by these bikes.yamaha brought R1 to india, what good it do.did it wipe out hh,bajaj and all bike makers.

These bikes will be an alternative to the likes of Yamaha R1 and MT-01..

Govt. of India Regulations for Engines of 800 cc or above says that: "The imported motorcycles must meet Euro-III emission norms."

Read This: http://commerce.nic.in/PressRelease/pressrelease_detail.asp?id=1999

So these bikes should not have any problem to be brought in as CKD's (Completely Knocked Down Units) instead of CBU's (Completely Built Units). But lets see what Bajaj-KTM has in store for our Rich "desi" Bikers..

@Ephiphany

"helmet customization"..??

Interesting, but never thought of it actually.. So don't have any info about it bro.

@payeng
i read the rules and regulations but i think duke250 is a better option to import.well bajaj can import it too with rc8 and 690.
i like the styling only of duke250in ktm range.
and many bikers may have the budget to buy it like ninja250.

By customization all I mean is getting some stuff painted on it :)

Yes, the RC8 and the Duke 690 will be out of budget of most of our bikers.

Actually the most interesting and exciting bikes from Bajaj-KTM will be coming in 2-3 years time.. when they will be launching 125-250-400 cc "water cooled" bikes jointly and selling under the KTM brand in Europe and as Bajaj in India..

These bikes will be manufactured by Bajaj in India. I expect a Killer price on these models.

Maybe I shoudn't go for the Ninja 250R and wait for 2-3 years for these Bajaj-KTM models..

I also share the same feeling with ashes_dad when he says that the styling of KTM bikes as not that exciting. If the prices of the RC8 gonna be near to the R1 (in Indian currency) then my vote would be going to the R1 because of it's killer looks.

By the way have you watched the video of Valentino Rossi testing the R1 ->

http://youtube.com/watch?v=WHnqWwvB1E4

just watch out for the pickup at the second gear!!!!

I too never like KTM bikes styling before, but this RC8 is different, I love the front look so much!

and since Payeng said that Bajaj bosses read his blog, I would like to give some suggestion to Bajaj: license RC8 front look, you can use Bajaj's tail design (Bajaj makes awesome tails already), put some unemployed Pulsar 180 engine, price it between P200-P220 (is it possible?), and let the 16.5 PS baby give Yamaha R15 a run of its money!!! Horsepowerwise, it will be competitive (assuming R15 make around 16 HP) and despite the lack of fuel injection, I'm pretty sure the P180 engine will give more mileage. Later, it can use 4 valves too!

Payeng said...

If I had the money, I would have gone in for the RC8..!!

For Me, the KTM RC8 is something like out of a Sci-Fi Movie.. Totally out of this world..!!

But I know that it will remain a dream..

But I am sure that the "Water Cooled" KTM-Bajaj Bikes will be something worth the wait..

i agree with BAMBANG to a little extent.but i don't think bajaj 180 can match R15.(delta box frame,liquid cooling,fuel injection,six speed gear box,full fairing,monoshock,forged piston and the YAMAHA brand)

we don't even know the full techs of the bike even then so much to say about it.it's my personal opinion and nothing against bajaj.

it might hurt pulsar owners but it is for sure that bajaj can't match the quality of yamaha products.

where are the cruisers???
my second bike has to be a cruiser!!

Sajal said...

I agree to ashes_dad when he says that a modified P180 cannot match with the technology of a Yamaha R15. But here we are talking about a sibling of the KING - The R1.

No doubt that Bajaj PERFORMANCE bikes cannot match with the Yamaha PERFORMANCE bikes, but here the question is was Yamaha able to match up with Bajaj in the 125-150 segment? It got so badly treater by Indian commuters that Yamaha had to play it's most precious cards in the form of the R1, MT01 and now the R15.

It clearly shows how eager Yamaha is to get a foot hold in the Indian market and how tough competetion it's facing from makers like Bajaj and TVS.

I'm not sure if the launch of R15 would hurt Pulsar owners but bikes like Pulsars and Apaches have surely made their impact on India sales of Yamaha and that why now we see Yamaha launching such magnificiant bikes inspite of knowing the fact that the company won't be recieving a volume sales as the company recieves in the Western and European countries.

Payeng said...

You are right Sajal..

Had it not been for the Success of the Bajaj Pulsar, I doubt that we would have got the following so soon (or maybe, late)..

>> TVS Apache

>> Hero Honda- Karizma

>> CBZ Xtreme

>> Hero Honda Hunk

>> And Now.. the to be launched Yamaha YZF-R15

Pay your Respects to Bajaj Auto for Pushing the "Desi" Biking Envelope Higher every time..

..and I am very sure that Bajaj will push it even higher after the Yamaha YZF-R15 is launched..!!

I feel KTM bajaj will be a 'electric chair ' for HMSI and munjal duo.Very soon Honda has to quit india and asian countries if Bajaj KTM do their strategies seriously right
