Q. Do you attend a marriage in your swimwear..??

Q. Do you go to office in your night gown..??

Q. Do you go to war in your party wear..??

Ans: The answer is NO..!!

Every occasion has its own dress code. Then why should we ride our bikes without proper riding gear..??

Seriously speaking, riding on two wheels without proper protective gear is a risky business. Compared to three/four wheelers, two wheelers are inherently unstable and almost every biker will (invariably) have to kiss the earth/tarmac occassionally. So apart from that compulsory helmet, its better to put on some protective clothing; so that next time you decide hit the deck hard, the damage is kept to a minimum.

What you see in the photos is the Riding Jacket named "Spike" from DSG (Dream Sporting Gear). The Jacket is made from Waterproof and Dirt repellant Cordura fabric which is also Abrasion, Tear and Freezing Resistant upto -25Deg C.

Impact Protectors on the DSG Jacket

If you are really serious about your biking, then get one proper riding jacket and never get lost in the crowd as just another biker..

CE Approved Impact Protectors are provided in the Back, Elbows, Shoulders. There is also a water resistant "Removable inner" along with outer and inner pockets. The quality of the Jacket is quite impressive and feels built to last.

This particular Jacket is priced at Rs. 4,500 and can be ordered online or at select outlets of DSG. The only downside of the jacket is that it is a bit heavy to use.. but then the feeling of security it offers is unbeatable. Also the impact protectors around the shoulders gives you that extra "Broad Shoulder" and hunky look.

If you are really serious about your biking, then get one proper riding jacket and never get lost in the crowd as just another biker.

Check out this particular product at DSG's Website.

hmmmmmmmm.....riding gear!!!! you are right dude. Specially performance bike riders should always ride with their riding gears on!! I also tried having those but they come at the very high premium. I understand that there's no premium heigher than your life........but you know consiously or sub-consiously, buy the complete riding gear always kept on taking the back seat :-(

Yes at Rs. 4500 for the jacket its a bit costly.. but believe me, its money well spent..

Maybe we should collect these stuff one-by-one.. starting with the helmet of course..

What if these Jackets are sold at 3-6 months EMI at 0% interest..?? I am sure it will be affordable then.. would you consider buying it then..??

Hi Payeng..looking good in all the biking gear man. I see you got yourself a domain. Congrats bro.

"What you see in the photos is the Riding Jacket from DSG (Gream Sporting Gear). The Jacket is made from Waterproof and Dirt repellant Cordura fabric which is also Abrasion, Tear and Freezing Resistant upto -25Deg C."

In the above para you have written GREAM instead of DREAM man. Change it before the company people sees it man...hehehe.

Riding with Full Protective Gear on is a little bit cumbersome especially when you first try it out.. But now when I ride without them, I actually feel naked (honest)..

Bangalore has a perfect moderate climate for using such jackets..

I do have my reservations about Humid places like Chennai though..

My Jacket protected my shirt during a slight drizzle once.. it also prevents my "Sensitive Skin" from Sunburn

I find my DSG jacket to be better in quality and looks compared to a few Cramster Jackets that were kept on display in "Auto Service" (Bajaj ProBiking Service Center at Banashankari II Stage) Bangalore)

after 1 knee scraping fall and 2 minor slides...
protective biking gear is critical...
jacket @4500 is good(considering features)....will consider it as replacement to my current suede leather jacket....
but what about knees??
they are as vulnerable...do the knee and elbow protectors like the one used in other sports bought seperately work fine??

Payeng said...

@Sankoo..

You are right, the knees are quite vulnerable..

Will certainly look something for it.

First, let me congratulate you and thank you for keeping such a wonderful blog.

A very helpful post this one. I am too thinking of getting the same jacket as you have. Btw, you said you have your reservations in places like chennai. I believe you are currently stationed in Gurgaon and I saw the pic of you riding a TVS Flame in the same jacket. How does it feel to wear these in Gurgaon? I am from Kolkata and I wonder how feasible would these be here.

Hi Shubhankar,

Summer has not totally set in here in Gurgaon yet..

This will be my first summer in Gurgaon-Delhi Region. Lets look forward to the experience..

Guys say that the Delhi Summer is kind of dry.. lets see if the jacket can be worn on peak summer days since I am looking for some protection from SunBurn

But I am not very sure that this particular jacket will be comfortable in Humid Climate.

can it be used in rainy conditions?

@George,

Yes, the Jacket doubles up as a raincoat (it is water resistant) on most occassions..

Haven't checked it out on a heavy downpour though.

Guys, does the 'Spike' of DSG and others for hardcore biking offer back support or basic spine padding or something like that ?!!?
