you cant come to such a conclusion without comparing chassis, handling, braking, tires, gear rollon, possibly gps monitored speed figures also.

Payeng,

I second your verdict. The RTR beats the P180 only in terms of handling and fit/finish at some places.

All being said, I noticed that the RTR is selling like hot cake these days. I see many many new RTRs on the road than Pulsars and being a P180 owner I have to say that I'm disappointed.

The RTR is not a bad bike by any means and it deserves these sales numbers but I strongly feel that the Living Legend which has been ruling our hearts for 7 years deserves more :>)

Now I really think that I should take this RTR babe for a test ride!! what say?? I totally agree Twin Spark when he says that the
P80 is a living legend. After all you got to have some meat in you to prove your ground in foregin countries like the Columbia and SA where more bigger bikes rule the market. The only reason I can think of that the sales of P180 doesn't enjoy such sales figure is due to the mileage it offers (because India is a very mileage oriented society)!!!! Else it's engine and gear box are smoother than the P150 which sells like hot cake. Another reason can be, as Twin Saprk said, it has been seven long years and probably it's really time for Bajaj to switch over to newer variant, specially cosmetically, the look of Pulsars rule, but they have grown old. But all in all we cannot defy the fact that though competition now has become more stiffer, pulsars are still the king in performance biking.

@Twin Spark & Sajal, I agree when Sajal says that the Pulsar 180 almost looks like the Pulsar 150..

Fuel Efficiency is definitely an issue that plays in most "desi" bikers mind but apart from that the Pulsar 180 needs some something to distinguish it.

Remember a few years back the sales of the Pulsar 180 had taken off when the "Fear the Black" 180 Version was released..?? But now with even 100 cc bikes come with "Black" alloys and engine covers.

The Pulsar 180 even faces some serious competition from its big brother (and Sajal's ride) the Pulsar 200.. which is also selling quite well.

Time has come for Bajaj to give the Pulsar 150 and 180 some "Distinctly Ahead" upgrade and features.

Off the record,
Why did you change the name of the blog?

Payeng said...

Hi Diesel,

these days there are too many blogs with the "blogspot" domain name..

My blog was getting lost in the "me too" crowd.. and since I have been quite serious with my blogging, I thought of giving a professional touch to my blog by going for a "personal domain" name.

All the previous links still work though.

By the Way, I am shifting near to your place... I am shifting to Gurgaon by Dec 25 2007.
