25 Bajaj Pulsar 200 Vs Hero Honda Karizma.. Who has the Best Looks..??

Which is the "Best Looking Motorcycle in India" today..??

For Indian customers, "Looks" have become a very important parameter on which bikes are being evauated. So which is the "Best Looking Bike" in India today..??

Let me first choose the Best Looking Model from each manufacturer..

"The Pulsar 200 loses out in exclusivity.. It looks very similar to the Pulsar 150 and 180 UGIII.

This is where the Karizma-R scores."

  • Bajaj:Pulsar DTS-i 200

  • Hero Honda:Karizma R

  • Honda India:Unicorn [With Alloys]

  • Suzuki India:Zeus [New Variant]

  • TVS Motor:Apache

  • Yamaha India:Gladiator Type J.A

"Royal Enfield" Bikes have not been included in the above list since Royal Enfield Bikes have Classic Timeless Looks.. As for "Kinetic", according to me their previous bikes don't qualify to be in the list and apart from their scooters there isn't any new news from them.

So from the above list I have narrowed down to 2 models.. they are the Bajaj Pulsar DTS-i 200 and the Hero Honda Karizma. Both of them are presently the flagship models for their respective makers.

Bajaj Pulsar DTS-i 200
  • Bajaj Pulsar DTS-i 200: The Pulsar 200 is without doubt the best looking Pulsar till date. Although the 200 shares most of its bodywork and other cycle parts with its smaller siblings (the Pulsar 150 and 180) the extentions on the tank and the split seats gives it a smarter appearance.

Hero HOnda Karizma-R
  • Hero Honda Karizma-R: The Karizma was always a handsome machine. Thankfully the the stickers haven't spoiled the looks of the Karizma. On road the new Karizma-R with its new stickers and engine guard still looks fresh.

So which one of these two has better looks..??

"Availability of the Karizma in "Yellow" shade which the Pulsar 200 doesn't come in makes the Karizma-R all the more desirable

Verdict: The Pulsar 200 looks sharp and has additional goodies on it like the split seats, Georgeous Digital Meters and Backlit Switches which glows in the dark. The Pulsar also sports a "Fatter Rear Tyre" (Sized 120 compared to the 100 of the Karizma) which just looks awesome.

But the Pulsar 200 loses out in exclusivity. It looks very similar to the Pulsar 150 and 180 UGIII. This is where the Karizma-R scores.

Even after all these years a Karizma on the road is able to turn your head. It looks exclusive and expensive. The new stickers and the engine guard on the Karizma-R has successfully refreshed the looks of the Karizma. And availability of the Karizma in "Yellow" shade which the Pulsar 200 doesn't come in makes the Karizma-R all the more desirable.

Having seen both the Pulsar 200 DTS-i and the Karizma-R on road, my vote for the "Best Looking Motorcycle in India" goes to the Karizma-R.

The pulsie needs to lose that tank. And fast.

It was ok when that tank was mated with a circular headlamp and overall rounded styling. But right now, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

The Kari R actually looks real sweet. But if i were to buy one, 'd hack off a bit of the engine guard (the bit that extends upward), add a monoshock and clip ons, and the 17" rear from the P200.

Will try to send you some edited stuff if i get the time. Meanwhile, do check out my blog for a new work. Thanks...

Yep Synn, the 17" rear from the Pulsar 200 looks real neat.. But without increase in power putting a "Wider" and "Smaller Diameter" at its rear it would hamper the performance of the Karizma.

Even if the Pulsar 200 looks similar to the Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180.. the real treat for bikers is its very agressive pricing.. which is about 12K less than the Karizma..!!

But I seriously hope the to be launched Fuel Injected Pulsar 220 has a new tank and a redesigned front end.. the present looks of the Pulsar 220 dosen't quite work with me

YES TRUE ALTHOUGH PULSAR 200 LOSES SOME EXCLUSIVENESS BUT STILL IT HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF WELL CONCEIVED BIKE - UNLIKE THE KARIZMA R!!!!! THE FAIRING ON KARIZMA LOOKS SO DUMP AND BORING!!! SOMETIMES FEELS TO BE A CUSTOMIZED ONE! NO FEEL OF SOPHISTICATION!!! AND AS FAR THE YELLOW COLOR IS CONCERNED THE YELLOW KARIZMA LOOKS LIKE A YELLOW CAB ON INDIAN STREETS!!! HERO HONDA ATTEMPTED TO TAKE THE CONCEPT OF COLOR BUMPERS TO INTERNATIONAL LEVEL BUT OF NO AVAIL! AND THE ENGINE GUARD LOOKS SO FUNNY!!! LOOKS LIKE THE OWNER HAS FITTED THAT PIECE BY HIMSELF!! LOOKS BY ANY MEANS CANNOT BE COMPARED WITH PULSAR FAMILY!! AND AS FAR THE PERFORMANCE IS CONCERNED EVERYONE KNOWS THE TRUTH!!!

A 120 rear tyre can work on the Karizma, if it is of a lower profile, so that the contact patch remains the same. Also, the unsprung weight should remain more or less the same.

And yes of course, you are welcome to use my artwork on your blog... Go bloggers... :-)

    That's all....

    Anirban Cool down bro..

Everyone has his/her right of opinion..

the loss in exclusivity of the P200 over the Karizma-R is compensated well by around 12K (in favor of the P200) price difference between the two.

And Please don't post in caps.

It's true that Pulsar 200 loses out in exclusivity. It looks very similar to the Pulsar 150 and 180 UGIII.

If u buy the split grab rails of p200 and fix it in p180, it would be bit difficult to differentiate between 180 and 200 in one glance.
The only addition is the 2 extra "oil cooled sticker" flaps on the tank. U won't notice the split seat and "200" logo if u have a pillion rider.

As Payeng said "Even after all these years a Karizma on the road is able to turn your head". It does look expensive, stunning and sporty.

Lookswise, My vote goes to ZMA!!

    Saj.

what is said about the Zma R may be true. But truth is, no one gives a second look to the new Zma R. But when i take out my P200, EVERYONE turns their heads, i mean everyone, INCLUDING Zma riders. i mean, when i stop at the ATM, when i go to the filling station, when i park the bike in front of a shop, i get stares and questions and comments like "cool bike yaar".....even my friend, who's got a blue p200 recently, shares my views.

Last time when i was riding in Delhi, a Karizma zipped by me( I was doing 50kmph....odo is on 700 kms only) only to stop somewhere ahead of me and slow down for me to catch up, then they put up appreciative glances and a thumbs up sign to me. What more can one ask for? Ahhh...the sheer bliss of a P200!!

P200 is a new bike, that is why people check once to see how it looks. I own a Karizma, and at first when I saw P200 i have seen to check how it is, but I did feel awsome. It is just like another P180. It is not at all exclusive.

Hi Sharath.. I am doing good thanks.. How have you been..??

I am in Bangalore too..!! I have recently joined a Software Company.

Bikers all over India has been waiting for the Pulsar 220.. Its been almost one and half years since the 220 was showcased in Jan 2006.

Last Saturday I had been to Bajaj Showroom, Khivraj Motors in Indiranagar.. Even the guys over there don't have a clue as to when the P220 would be launched..

All we can do is wait..

I hope the P220 gets a makeover in its looks when its launched.. the bike doesn't have perfect proportions as of now..

I think more than just the looks, there's a bit of a mismatch between the Round Curvy tank and the razor sharp wedgy rear end! It is'
nt a continuous flowy design so to speak.. Maybe they could have put a few angular grooves onto the tank ??

    Glifford said...

Are looks subjective? If you talk of exclusivity, then it is a different thing altogether.

But if you look at a bike by itself, you must be able to judge how well it is executed! The P200 obviously scores there.

I would same for the Indica. It may be the most common B segment car on the roads, but that doesn't stop it from being a really good looking car in the first place.

You cannot compare looks and familiarity!

    "its definitely male"
    "hard to be get caught"

Yes Karthik is absolutely right No way in hell can da Karizma beat P200 in any aspects. PULSAR 200 is da King of all the bikes. The best looking with a stunning performance. A thumbs up for da PULSAR 200 & a round of applause 2!!!!

    Unknown said...

anyone please say ...will the pulsar 200 silencer suits for pulsar 180 2009 model..is there any advatage? please reply

    Payeng said...

Silencer/Exhaust tuning is an art which is done by the manufacturer engineers after many tests.. simply buying an exhaust off the shelf and fitting on a bike might hamper the bike's performance and engine life.

Also such modification will void the warranty of a new vehicle.

Think twice before venturing out for such modifications.

pulsar still remains the king in terms of its muscular looks its weight its power its ability to make you feel the downward force when it accelerates, hit the speed of 120kmph+ believe me you will feel you are still on ground compared to karizma or zma i have tested both the bikes karizma is the worst bike i have seen nothing personal its abt a machine & its performance just cross 80kmph+ on karizma you will feel like its not on ground god forgive if something goes wrong only god know where you will fell.as far as design is concerned its stolen from honda sport bikes but bajaj has its own appearance.only thing i feel bajaj 200 lacks is no kick, too much electronics which can definitely cause problem during monsoon front tyre should be 100x90x17 & rear is awesome some reduction in weight by introducing mono suspension.but still i will give score karizma or zma or R 6/10 compared to p 200 8/10.
