13 New 100 C.C Yamaha Alba (Pics/Photos/Images)

Yamaha India launches a new 100 C.C variant and christens it as Yamaha "Alba"

Just when bike enthusiasts were expecting either a 165 C.C or a 250 C.C from Yamaha, Yamaha decided to dissappoint bike enthusiasrs and launch a 100 C.C for a change. What you see below are pics of a new 100 C.C variant from Yamaha Motors India. Pics were picked up from rearset's blog.

The new 100 C.C bike seems to be a variant of the Yamaha G5. Similar to the G5, the Alba shares a 106 C.C engine. The tech specs have not yet been made public. Also it is not clear whether the alba is a replacement of the G5. The pricing also is not known.

The Alba features newly a designed headlamp, tank, side and tail panels along with alloys. From the Alba seems to be pitted against the TVS Star and Bajaj Platina. It will be interesting to see whether it can match the Star and the Platina on the price front as well...

Yamaha India has been running losses since the last 6 years and it desperately needs a model to create the much needed volumes. Looks like Yamaha hopes that te Alba might do that trick.

Gladiator Type J.ABy the way, we already have the Gladiator "Type J.A" (J.A= John Abraham)

Now since the new bike is called the Alba, how about roping in Jessica Alba and renaming the bike as Yamaha New "Type J.A (Jessica Alba)"..??

:-)

Sorry Yamaha, no offence meant.

The Alba looks decent. Hope it brings in the much needed numbers for Yamaha.

Alba looks cool. It will definetly beat the 100cc competetion in all fronts. Especially Bajaj Platina, TvS Star sports & the HH Passion.

Yamaha is still alive, So we can ecpect the launch of 165cc Gladiator soon.

Apart from looks, Yamaha has to get the Pricing of the Alba correct..

The 100 C.C entry level segment has intense competition on the price front.

With Bajaj having said that it will gradually exit from the 100cc arena, YAMAHA has in it to become the market leader. But, of course, it has to get the pricing right.

But what wonders me more is that why isn't it keen on launching an all new model with an all new design? May be a Race Derived (RD) will do the wonder.

RD for a 100 C.C economiser..?? It would be an overkill I think..

But needless to say, Yamaha does need to launch a performance oriented premium model (150 CC or above).. People in the country still associate the Yamaha Brand with "Performance"..

But for a 100 C.C: An aggressive price, Good Mileage, Decent Styling and Good built quality is all that is required to get the equation right.

what yamaha needs now is not a 100cc bike, but something of a 200-250cc performance bike to rope in loyalists like me

why don't yamaha manufacture the alba in a 125 cc category? i would definitely go for it except for the small 1oo cc engine, the looks is great though.
