9 Biggest Bike Brand in Colombia is Bajaj..!! [Part 1] Pics

Bajaj is the Biggest Bike Brand in Colombia..!! Here is the proof..!!

A few months back I had made a remark in the Bike forum XBhp.Com about how Bajaj and TVS has given the Japanese Manufacturers (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki) a run for their money in India. I had also expressed how much both these Indian bike makers has improved in quality and how both of them made me proud as an Indian.

"It was surprising to see that traces of the "colonial hangover" was still present even among a few who were essentially born in "Free and Independent" India"

To this remark of mine there were a few supporters and also (sadly) a few who scoffed at my remark. One particular person (I don't remember his name) remarked that both these Indian bike makers are ahead of the Japanese in India only because "it is the Indian Market". He also commented that "only when Bajaj/TVS would better the Japanese in foreign markets", he would give them the credit.

"I have come back with an answer to that cynic. I hope he and the likes of him gets to read this post"

I was sad at such a condescending attitude by an Indian towards the products of his own country. It was surprising to see that traces of the "colonial hangover" was still present even among a few who were essentially born in "Free and Independent" India.

Nevertheless, that day I kept quiet to that remark. Now I have come back with an answer to that cynic. I hope he and the likes of him gets to read this post.

Yes, the Biggest Two Wheeler Brand in Colombia is our very own Bajaj..!! Bajaj has not only surpassed the Chinese Bikes which are present there but also the well known Japanese Brands. According to this news report...

"Bajaj has emerged as the largest bike brand in Colombia, ahead of the Japanese brands that are already present there"

Colombia is one of Latin America's biggest two wheeler market after Brazil.. and the Bajaj Pulsar 180 is a very popular model there. Now here is the proof in Pics...

The caption on the top left corner of this Colombian Two Wheeler Website says, "La Supremacia PULSAR continua".. which when translated from Spanish to English means "The Supremacy of PULSAR continues..!!"

Now show me an Indian who isn't proud..??

Hi Payeng,
I am a regular reader of your post. Its really good.

There was a time when British ruled the world and India also. There was a time when Hero Honda ruled the bike market by 70% presence in all classes together. Today HH still is the bike leader but in the higher cc market Bajaj is leagues ahead. Bajaj also is any way exiting the 100 cc market.

Point is PRESENTLY Britain doesnot rule India, HH doesnot have a presence like the 90s.

Indian people also the world people are no fools. Bajaj IS a good product and so it sells. Not that HH is not good, but even the Indian public has moved from 'Commute Mode' to 'Commute & Fun Mode'.

Stickering can only get you so much, if you need to satisfy the customers, you need to SATISFY that. Bajaj has done that. 150, 180, 200, 220, name it, thay have it, not like HH sticking to 100 cc with variants more than the Indian population, CD, Splendour, Passion, Sleek, Dawn, Joy, Glamour, not to mention those + and super series.
Yes Bajaj have issues in the engine, but at least they are constantly improving or at least trying to and PEOPLE KNOW THAT eventually things will get better.

I myself had an Avenger, very good bike for 65K compared to ?Japanese built Karizma which looks like a big guy will no testicular fortitude. I mean, just ride it, such a huge body with that puny engine. Really, HH believes in the Govinda tradition, jajjy make up, no material.

Presently I am riding a 400cc Honda only because I want a bigger engine, the day Bajaj launches the 32 bhp Anhelo, I will shift priorities.

How can one be not passionate about one's own country, especially India? I believe we still love Sachin more than Matthew Hayden although Matthew had just scored his second successive century.

Thanks Utpal..

I see you yourself are quite impressed by Bajaj.

But don't put away the Hero Honda Bikes.. what they lack in timely upgrades.. they make it up by producing engines which are very good in quality.

I think that the Karizma is a very good bike.

The only problem with Hero Honda is that they lack a good R&D team like Bajaj. So they have to depend on Honda for every upgrade.. in the meantime we are dished with the "Sticker" upgrades.

I wish Hero Group spends some amount in R&D and not be always dependent on Honda.. Who knows in a few years time Honda might think of ending the JV with Hero Group.

Well then, we then no longer need to be proud of JAP- indo ventures, we can be proud of solely INDIAN ventures, which then is a win-win situation for us Indians.

Obviously people are no fools, HH being the highest seller means MOST indians trust them, its just that I am not really enthused about JAP ventures, I mean look at Yamaha & Suzuki. Gladi and Zeus are excellent bikes in their vicinities, eveb better than HH, but you know where my grunt is...The Step Motherly treatment. Brazil, Thailand, all have at least a 250cc from these stables and India being the world's 2nd biggest bike market....
