6 5 Reasons for You to Upgrade from 100 C.C to 125 C.C bikes

My 5 Reasons on why you should upgrade from 100 C.C to 125 C.C bikes

Q. Do you remember the first 125 C.C (4 stroke) bike released in India..??

Ans: It was the Yamaha YBX

Though the YBX did not turn out to be a money spinner for Yamaha. It did start a new segment in the Indian two wheeler market, the 125 C.C segment.

Present 125 C.C models in India are:

"Rationally thinking, the 125 C.C should provide the best of both fuel efficiency as well as better performance..

Extra power in fact makes the 125 C.C's more safer.."

  • Bajaj- Discover
  • Hero Honda- Super Splendor
  • Hero Honda- Glamour
  • Honda- Shine
  • Suzuki- Heat & Zeus
  • TVS- Victor GLX
  • Yamaha- Gladiator

The 100 C.C segment gives you the maximum mileage and also has the least initial and running costs in the market.

The popular 150 C.C segment is for those who are willing to sacrifice a mileage to an extent to get some "speed masti".

Rationally thinking, the 125 C.C should provide the best of both worlds. i.e. a compromise between fuel efficiency and performance. Having taken a few short rides on a few 125 C.C models let me give you 5 reasons on why you should think of upgrading from 100 C.C to 125 C.C

  • Better handling: Compared the nervous handling of the smaller 100 C.C bikes, the 125 C.C bikes are much better in handling.

  • More Comfortable ride: 125 C.C bikes give a better ride compared to the bounchy 100 C.C's

  • Fuel Efficiency you can live with: The average fuel efficiency figures of a 100 C.C bike in India is around 65 km/l.. the 125 C.C bikes deliver on an average around 55 km/l. Which is not too great a difference.

  • Better on the highway: The extra 25 odd C.C's give the bike a little bit more power which coupled with better handling characteristics makes the 125 C.C bikes better for the highway.

  • Safer: The extra power in fact makes the 125 C.C's more safer. Consider you have to make a critical overtake and then you realize to your frustration/horror that your bike just dosen't have that extra grunt.

So if you are looking to buy a new 100 C.C bike, give a little consideration towards the 125 C.C class as well... take a few test rides and then decide for yourself.

hey guys,

I feel that there is no comparison to Honda Shine in 125 CC segment. The Optimax engine developed by Honda is extraordinary.
