11 New Bajaj Pulsar 200 C.C..!! (Pics/Images)

"Mr. Rajiv Bajaj had made a statement in October about Bajaj planning to launch Two Bigger Pulsars in the next 3 months. Looks like Mr. Bajaj is right on track.

"By launching the Pulsar 200, Bajaj can now position the eagerly awaited Pulsar 220 a notch above the Karizma... "

"the Pulsar 200 can be expected to play the value for money card and at the same time provide performance a shade better than the Karizma's 17 bhp..."

The pics posted below is supposed to be of the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 c.c. The bikes are for display in Mumbai at the MMRDA grounds Bandra-Kurla Complex till 26'th of November 2006. The news and pics were sourced from Orkut Bajaj Pulsar 220 Community.

A look at the bike makes it clear that the Pulsar 200 shares similar features and parts of the yet to be launched Pulsar 220 DTSFi. A strategy that Bajaj has successfully executed with the Pulsar 150 and 180 twins so far.

Bajaj Pulsar 200 C.C DTSi

Special Features of the Pulsar 200 c.c
  • Oil cooled engine (Radiator present)
  • Split seats, digital speedo and LED tail lights similar to the Pulsar 220 DTSFi
  • The "Phantom" headlamp (encased in matt black plastic) like those of the recently launched Pulsar 150 & 180 DTSI
  • Fat rear tyre similar to the 220
  • Black Paint scheme of the engine covers, chain cover and also includes the front shock forks and the rear suspension
  • New tank cowl design element
  • Kick Lever seems to be absent (only electric start, like the Pulsar 220)

Notable omissions of the Pulsar 200 compared to the Pulsar 220 DTSFi

  • Carburetter and not the Fuel Injected technology of the 220 DTSFi
  • Drum rear brakes instead of the disc brakes
  • Conventional headlamp instead of the twin projector headlamp of the Pulsar 220

Power of the new Pulsar 200 seems to be around 18 PS (17.7 bhp)

If the above information and specs are true, then the bike looks extremely promising. It looks that the Hero Honda has finally met its match in the Pulsar 200. So far the Pulsar 180 has always been compared to the Karizma, which according to me was quite unfair to the Pulsar 180 (which has a much smaller engined bike compared to the Karizma).

By launching the Pulsar 200, Bajaj can now position the eagerly awaited Pulsar 220 a notch above the Karizma. Also considering the Pulsar 200 has a smaller engine compared to the Karizma, the Pulsar 200 can be expected to play the value for money card and at the same time provide performance a shade better than the Karizma's 17 bhp.

Coming back to Mr. Bajaj's statement of "Two Bigger Pulsars in next 3 months", I hope to see the Pulsar 220 (hopefully a little modified than the one showcased during last Auto Expo 2006) and the new Pulsar 200 in the Auto Expo this coming January. Hopefully along with its nationwide launch.

well I think that you will be happy to know that the P200 is rumoured to be sold for around Rs.72,000 (On Road) at least in Pune... so I think your budget of Rs.75,000 would perfectly suit the Pulsar 200...

I also think that the P200 has the perfect looks compared to the rest of the Pulsars... P150/180 and P220 included..!!

[P.S: I would be delighted to know your name, plz leave ur name along with ur comment if possible]

Wish I could tell u that... According to me no one can tell for sure abt the launch dates of both the Pulsar 220 and the Pulsar 200..

Bajaj have though sold some 20 odd Pulsar 220's in Pune for test marketing..

My best guess is within 2-3 months for a country wide launch of both the 220 as well as the 200..

Wish U all the Best
